A shootout between two gangs in a deserted Boston warehouse, in 1978 is what happens in director Ben Wheatley’s new movie Free Fire.

Starring Cillian Murphy, Armie  Hammer, Brie Larson and Sharlto Copley, we hopefully have a rather stylish movie on the way – especially if we’re to believe the well edited trailer before us.

Right Away, Guy Ritchie’s style of film making came to mind as this trailer played – from Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998) to The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015) and beyond.

I’m just hoping that Wheatley’s film is as good as the style and great stories that inspired it. Bring on the thrills great camera work, story and all else. Please, thank you and no pressure.

What great choices Mr Copley makes in the roles he plays. So many pleasant surprises and many more to come, let’s hope.

Michael Smiley, Jack Reynor, Babou Ceesay and Sam Riley also star.

Free Fire Release Dates: 2017 (US); March 31st, 2017 (UK)…

The first trailer for Dunkirk, the new movie directed by the rightly celebrated writer/director, Christopher Nolan has landed.

Trailer 1

Generally speaking, war movies aren’t my favourite genre of film but I’ll probably try anything once if Nolan is at the helm. This teaser trailer is great for the first look. A look that left my heart threatening to exit my chest by the end. Trailer one reminds me of what makes great trailers.

The stars of the movie include recent Nolan regulars Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy. Then there’s Mark Rylance and Harry Styles. What a gift it must be for one’s first movie to be directed by someone at the level of Nolan. If I were in the position of Mr. Styles,  I don’t think  I could ever get over such a thing, regardless of how  small my part might be.

Dunkirk Release Dates: July 19th, 2017 (FR); July 21st, 2017 (US & UK); July 27th, 2017 (GER)…

Set in WII, Anthropoid, Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan’s new movie is based on the true story of the mission to assassinate one of Adolf Hitler’s generals, Reinhard Heydrich.

The trailer looks good so far. As such, I’m intrigued. As for actually watching? That will happen because of Cillian Murphy. I’m also open to seeing Dornan in something good.

Toby Jones, Charlotte Le Bon and Anna Geislerová also feature.

IN THE HEART OF THE SEA (2015): New Trailer From Chris Hemsworth & Cillian Murphy

In The Heart Of The Sea (2015), Chris Hemsworth

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy and Ben Whishaw, In the heart of the Sea tells the story of the the 1820 sinking of Whaleship ,Essex in the Pacific Ocean.

Directed by Ron Howard and based on the book by Nathaniel Philbrick, the thing that excites me most about this movie is the special effects. Whales are beautiful, majestic creatures and loving them as I do, I don’t know how easily I’ll be able to look at the whale as the ‘bad guy.’ On second thought, I’m thinking probably ‘quite easily’ if I put myself in the place of the crew whose ship just sunk.

In the event that after seeing the In The heart of The Sea trailer, you thought the film was based on a different famous book, namely  Moby Dick by Herman Melville, you’re not alone. For it is the same 1820 event that inspired Melville to write his famous story, first published in 1851.

I’m quite sure I’ll still love whales after watching In The Heart Of The Sea, however ‘bad’ this one particular whale may be.

In the Heart of the Sea Release Date (s): December 11th, 2015 (US), December 26th, 2015 (UK)…

INCEPTION (2010): Only If Other Films Would Stay Away From The Music

Inception (2010), Leonardo DiCaprio

Part of what makes Christopher Nolan’s Inception (2010) so very good, is Hans Zimmer’s brilliant musical score.

Unfortunately, since the the film’s release, seemingly far lesser movies keep using it. I say ‘seemingly far lesser’ because I can’t actually see myself ever watching any of the offending titles.

I admit, I’m probably too attached to the original film and music, but all the trailers I’ve seen that use the Inception score really don’t look very promising. If they did, I wouldn’t be writing this.

You only have to watch the following Airborne (2012) trailer to see and understand.

To help get that highly disappointing Airborne taste out of your mouth, here are two fantastic Inception trailers.
