A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE (2025): The Things I Liked…

I had ideas of how A House of Dynamite, Netflix’s latest Kathryn Bigelow-directed drama/thriller, would be. Especially considering a wonderful cast that includes Idris Elba, Greta Lee, and Rebecca Ferguson.

The compelling premise, one about several White House staffers dealing with an impending missile strike on the United States, is well teased in the trailers. Once the film started, along with the filming style and notable acting, the musical score stood out for expertly creating a constant sense of unease.

Bigelow’s film is split into three distinct parts. For me, part one is where the good news lives in terms of my experience of the film. It’s where we’re introduced to the high-pressure world of people bearing the weight of keeping America safe, should the incoming missile do its worst. These people are also processing the idea that within thirty minutes, they, along with many they love, and innocent civilians could very well cease to exist. These tension-filled scenes are captured in an engaging way.

Things went downhill for me when it became clear that parts two and three were capturing the very same events, covering the same period of time, but from the vantage point of different White House staff departments. Unfortunately, having to sit through a retelling of the same event wasn’t delivered in a way that proved adequately engaging for me. Essentially, I found myself feeling short-changed due to the repetition.

If you’re curious, give A House of Dynamite a chance. You may find parts two and three more engaging than I did.

A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE (2025): New Trailer From Kathryn Bigelow, Starring Rebecca Ferguson, Idris Elba, Greta Lee…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of A House of Dynamite (2025).

Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and The Hurt Locker (2008) director, Kathryn Bigelow, has a brand new drama/thriller called A House of Dynamite.

Starring Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, and Greta Lee, A House of Dynamite is a drama that unfolds in real time as White House staffers deal with an impending missile strike on America.

As scary as this premise is, I’m in for the gripping predicament, especially in the hands of such a talented filmmaking team.

I’m also excited to see who Idris Elba will be playing. Could it be the head of the CIA/Secret Service, the President of the United States? Or, perhaps someone else entirely. You’d think that the next trailer would tell us, but:

Is A House of Dynamite something you see yourself watching?

Anthony Ramos, Kyle Allen, Tracy Letts, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Aminah Nieves, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Jared Harris, Willa Fitzgerald, Jonah Hauer-King, Gabriel Basso, Jason Clarke and Brian Tee also star.

A House of Dynamite Release Dates: October 24th, 2025 (US & UK)…

TRON – ARES (2025): New Trailer Starring Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Sarah Desjardins, Gillian Anderson…

Directed by Joachim Rønning, Tron Ares is the latest action/adventure/sci-fi film starring Greta Lee, Jared Leto, Evan Peters and Gillian Anderson.

The story is focused on a highly sophisticated program called Ares. One sent on a dangerous mission from the digital world into the real world.

What a wonderful trailer!

All I knew before writing this post and watching this trailer was that Jeff Bridges starred in 2010’s Tron – Legacy movie, not that I got around to watching it, sadly. I was probably too busy obsessing over DiCaprio’s Inception.

This one has me excited about the characters, story and all that beautiful red in the visual effects. Plus, we are in a different time, technologically speaking, which I imagine makes the premise even more interesting, right?

How much are you looking forward to Tron – Ares?

Sarah Desjardins, Jeff Bridges, Cameron Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Hasan Minhaj, Shalyn Ferdinand, Jason Tremblay, Brad Harder, Kenneth Seto Tynan, Cameron Park, Zahra Alani and Jay Durant also star.

Tron – Ares, Release Dates: October 10th, 2025 (US & UK)…

GEMINI (2017): New Trailer From Zoe Kravitz, Lola Kirke, John Cho, Ricki Lake…

Gemini (2017), Lola Kirke
Gemini (2017), Lola Kirke

A personal assistant to a Hollywood starlet must confront her own understanding of friendship, truth, and celebrity after a heinous crime tests her relationship with her boss.

Written/directed by Aaaron Katz, the film’s stars include Zoe Kravitz, Lola Kirke, John Cho and Ricki Lake.

I’m not generally a fan of trailers that last longer than 90 seconds. However, I found myself so drawn in by everything happening in this one, that I didn’t notice the nearly 2.5-minute run time.

At this point, I just really want to know what happened. It kind of makes me think of the shadiest of shady friendships, that I was most recently exposed to in Always Shine (2015).
