THE LUCKIEST MAN IN AMERICA (2024): New Trailer Starring Paul Walter Hauser, Shamier Anderson, Walton Goggins, Haley Bennett…

One fateful day in 1984, an unemployed ice cream truck driver named Michael Larson (Paul Walter Hauser) became a contestant on TV game show Press Your Luck.

What the executives at the show didn’t know is that Larson was harbouring a secret, and his real motivations.

Directed by Samir Oliveros and based on a true story, additional key cast includes Shamier Anderson, Walton Goggins and Haley Bennett.

I simply need to know how Larson did it and why. I’m also mesmerised by Hauser’s performance and how adorable his character outwardly appears. Future perfect Santa alert, if you ask me.

Patti Harrison, Brian Geraghty, Lilli Kay, Johnny Knoxville, Tatiana Ronderos, Ricky Russert, David Rysdahl, David Strathairn, Maisie Williams, Shaunette Renée Wilson and James Wolk also star.

The Luckiest Man in America Release Dates: April 4th, 2025 (US)…

HILLBILLY ELEGY (2020): New Trailer Starring Haley Bennett, Amy Adams, Glenn Close, Gabriel Basso…

Hillbilly Elegy (2020), Amy Adams, Haley Bennett, Netflix

Based on the book of the same name by J.D. Vance; Hillbilly Elegy is a new drama starring Amy Adams, Haley Bennett, Gabriel Basso and Glenn Close.

Directed by Ron Howard; it’s the story of a Yale law student (Brasso) who’s drawn back to his hometown where he grapples with family history, Appalachian values and the American dream.

Close and Adams are really all the reasons I needed before saying yes to watching this. It also looks like Adams will finally win an Academy Award because this here looks like a truly brilliant performance.

Freida Pinto, Sunny Mabrey, Bo Hopkins, Dylan Gage, David Atkinson, Marcella Lentz-Pope, Stephen Kunken, Chase Anderson, William Mark McCullough, Jason Davis and Tierney Smith also star.

Hillbilly Elegy Release Dates: November 24th, 2020 (US & UK)…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Swallow (2019).

Directed by Carlo Mirabella-Davis; starring Haley Bennett, Austin Stowell and Denis O’Hare, Swallow is the story of a pregnant housewife who finds herself increasingly compelled to consume dangerous objects.

Soon enough, she’ll have to confront the dark secret behind her new obsession.

Wow.

It feels right that this movie is partly categorised as horror. Particularly since this version of self-harm is so very scary to me. I’ll be watching for the ‘why‘ and the ‘how could one even…?’

Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche, Luna Lauren Velez, Zabryna Guevara, Laith Nakli, Babak Tafti, Nicole Kang, Olivia Perez, Kristi Kirk and Alyssa Bresnahan also star.

Swallow Release Dates: March , 6th, 2020 (US)…

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE (2017): New Trailer From Miles Teller, Hayley Bennett, Amy Schumer…

Thank You For Your Service (2017), Miles Teller

In new war drama/biography Thank You For Your Service, starring Miles Teller and Hayley Bennett, a group of U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq are struggling to integrate back into family and civilian life.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is interesting, and my two favourite war films – American Sniper (2014) and The Hurt Locker (2008) touch on the subject to a degree.

In Thank You For Your Service, PTSD is the main focus, and so I must watch. The other reason for me to see this is Teller, because of his memorable work in Whiplash (2014).

Lastly, I’m curious about Bennett. I’ve seen her in a number of trailers, but I’m yet to watch one of her movies.

Directed by Jason Hall; Joe Cole and Keisha Castle-Hughes also star.

Thank You For Your Service Release Dates: October 27th, 2017 (US)…

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN (2016): New Trailer From Emily Blunt, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans…

Based on the book by Paula Hawkins, a mystery/thriller is what we can expect from Emily Blunt and Justin Theroux’s latest movie, The Girl On The Train.

There’s just a little bit of a Gone Girl (2014) vibe going on with this one. And  I can’t say it’s necessarily a bad thing. Fingers crossed that this is great.

The Girl On The Train Release Dates: October 7th, 2016 (UK &US); October 27th, 2016 (GER)…
