Read my spoiler-free movie review of Mufasa The Lion King (2024).

Another Lion King movie is coming, and this time the focus is on Mufasa, Simba’s father, and his relationship with his ‘brother,’ Scar.

Directed by Barry Jenkins; Mufasa – The Lion King stars Aaron Pierre, Seth Rogen, Mads Mikkelsen and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

I couldn’t get past the fifteen-minute mark with The Lion King (2019). As such, I’m not sure I” end up watching this one.

The good news is that this time we do have a new story. Nevertheless, at least one of my key issues with the 2019 live-action Lion King movie applies to this one too. Add to that some of the accents in this trailer ‘sounding strange,’ clearly, only time will tell.

Maybe I’ll end up giving this instalment the 15 minutes I afforded its predecessor, just to see what happens.

BARBERSHOP (2002): The Things I Liked…

Starring Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Eve and Michael Ealy, before watching Barbershop, I had quite a clear idea about how director Tim Story’s Chicago based Barbershop comedy was going to turn out.

There’s humorous banter among those who work in the barbershop and the sometimes peculiar patrons/random visitors. It’s not all laughs, of course, there’s a little drama thrown in, too.

As fun as the barbershop banter is, what I loved most about the movie actually takes place outside the barbershop. It’s all the comedy that comes from everything the characters played by Lahmard J. Tate and Anthony Anderson get up to.

Barbershop is a good and funny slice of light Chicago-based entertainment with colourful characters. Expect nothing more and enjoy.

Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, The Nice Guys (2016)

Something very interesting and starring Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling and Kim Basinger is coming for all you crime/mystery/thriller fans.

Directed by Shane Black and set in the 1970s, it looks like The Nice Guys are bringing great dialogue, fun antics, good music and some welcome twists and turns to keep us guessing.

All we need now is for the next trailer to please not spoil the entire film by revealing too much. The amount of story already shown in this version feels just right.

Matt Bomer, Keith David and Margaret Qualley also star.
