Good Fortune, the latest action/comedy from writer/director and star Aziz Ansari, has a new trailer.

Also starring Keke Palmer, Keanu Reeves, Sandra Oh and Seth Rogen, the story follows Reeves as rather inept angel Gabriel, a meddler in the lives of two earthlings.

I was right when, following the first trailer, I guessed that the story would somehow connect Rogen and Ansari’s characters.

What wasn’t clear was precisely how. Now that I know, I look forward to learning how it all turns out. Especially because I like Ansari and Rogen as the main stars, and Reeves as the one to help them make sense of their lives.

I also like how this seems a little less silly than the first trailer suggested, which makes it even more promising. Are you more likely to watch Good Fortune after seeing this new trailer?

Joe Anoa’i, Sherry Cola, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Jennifer Woods, Cari Shayne, Jesus Garcia and Adrian Dev also star.

Good Fortune Release Dates: October 17th, 2025 (US & UK)…

THE PICK UP (2025): New Trailer From Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, Pete Davidson, Eva Longoria…

Eddie Murphy, Eva Longoria, Keke Palmer and Pete Davidson are the stars of new action/comedy The Pick Up.

Directed by Tim Story, things take a deadly turn when a routine cash pick-up is interrupted by ruthless criminals with big plans.

My expectations for this aren’t particularly the highest. However, I’m open to some silliness, fun and giggles. Plus, I want it to work out for this rather unexpected cast.

Jack Kesy, Joe Anoa’i, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Marshawn Lynch, Andrew Dice Clay, Josh Turner, Lara Grice, Charles Green, Vinnie Varone, Christopher Cocke and Leydi Morales also star.

The Pick Up Release Dates: August 6th, 2025 (US)…

ONE OF THEM DAYS (2025): Keke Palmer, SZA, Janelle James, Maude Apatow…

Directed by Lawrence Lamont, One of The Days is a new comedy about two best friends (Keke Palmer, SZA), in a race against time as they try to avoid eviction.

I fully appreciate the Friday (1995) and Pineapple Express (2008) vibes.

I’m not one for violence, myself. But the beating that happens soon after 0:51 seconds into the trailer is just so well-deserved and satisfying!

There’s plenty of great comic timing on display here, not to mention the fun chemistry between Palmer and SZA.

I’m ready to see this right away. Bring on the giggles and ‘Prosecco and pals!’

Maude Apatow, Gabrielle Dennis, Janelle James, Katt Williams, Lil Rel Howery, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Ray Santiago, Ray Santiago, Amin Joseph and Patrick Cage also star.

One of Them Days Release Dates: January 24th, 2025…

NOPE (2022): The Things I Liked…

Nope (2022), Daniel Kaluuya, Brandon Perea, Keke Palmer, Universal Pictures
Nope (2022), Daniel Kaluuya, Brandon Perea, Keke Palmer, Universal Pictures

I would love to say that Nope is one of my favourite movies of 2022, but that wouldn’t be true. Director Jordan Peele’s third film, following Get Out (2017) and Us (2019), truly tested my patience so much that I came close to giving up on it.

It wasn’t until the fifty-five-minute mark that things changed. I was finally fully engaged and excited about what was happening in Peele’s horror/mystery/sci-fi film about the uncanny, chilling and undoubtedly alien events in an inland California gulch.

The cinematography of Nope is one of its key highlights. Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer’s performances were two more high points. There was a point or two when I wanted Palmer’s character to speak less. Still, what I loved most about Nope is the sibling connection between Kaluuya and Palmer’s characters. A pleasing dynamic that happens to shine through even more after the aforementioned fifty-five-minute mark

As for the question of whether to watch Nope or not, that depends on your patience levels. It also depends on how big of a Peele fan you are. And, lastly, your curiosity about everything that happens after fifty-five minutes.

I can’t say I completely forgive Peele for the slow half of the movie, just because I enjoyed the second half a lot more. But, I can say that I am somewhat less mad.

Have you seen Nope? If so, what did you like most and least about it?

NOPE (2022): New Trailer From Jordan Peele, Starring Daniel Kaluuya, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Keke Palmer…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Nope (2022).

Isn’t it great when a promising trailer from one of your favourite directors lands when you weren’t expecting it?

The director is Jordan Peele and the movie is Nope. A scary but fun-looking horror/mystery/thriller starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun and Barbie Ferreira.

The question going through my mind right now is ‘What kind of terrifying ride, likely involving aliens is this story about to take us on?’ I want to find out. I’m in for the special effects and to discover whether we’ll even get to see the entity causing all the terror.

What’s a bad miracle? They got a word for that?

I just love the above words and the way Kaluuya’s character delivers them, with that perfectly placed pause in the middle.

Jennifer Lafleur, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, Donna Mills, Terry Notary, Sophia Coto, Ryan W. Garcia, Andrew Patrick Ralston and Gloria Cole also star.

Nope Release Dates: July 22nd, 2022 (US)…
