Steven Soderbergh’s latest movie is Presence. A drama/horror/thriller starring Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, plus Julia Fox, and about a family convinced they’re not alone in their new suburban home.

Trailer 2

I’m curious about what has been described as ‘Soderbergh’s best combination of form and function‘. Nevertheless, I haven’t forgotten that my specific sensibilities mean I probably shouldn’t watch it. Particularly if I don’t want to start looking at inanimate objects suspiciously for no apparent reason,

Will you be acquainting yourself with the Presence upon release? Something tells me that you too are curious, yes?

Lucas Papaelias, Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, Natalie Woolams-Torres, Jared Wiseman, Daniel Danielson, Benny Elledge and West Mulholland also star.

Presence Release Dates: January 24th, 2025 (US & UK)…

RED ONE (2024): New Trailer From Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, J.K. Simmons…

Starring Lucy Liu, J.K. Simmons, Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans; Red One is a new action/adventure comedy about when Santa Claus was abducted from the North Pole.

Directed by Jake Kasdan; additional key cast includes Kristofer Hivju, Kiernan Shipka and Nick Kroll.

I love the trend of a new reimagining of Christmas movies every year, a trend that I first noticed with Fatman (2020).

Admittedly, I wasn’t sure about Red One until the very end of this trailer when Johnson’s character asked, ‘Is my face still there?‘ I’m still not sure, honestly. However, I’m now more inclined to give it a try.

On second thought, I’ve watched this trailer at least twice now and after the second viewing, I find myself even more excited. Funny how that can happen.

I’m also curious about the Johnson/Evans dynamic. What are your feelings after watching this trailer?

Bonnie Hunt, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Wesley Kimmel, Wyatt Hunt, Clayton Cooper and Jenna Kanell also star.

Red One Release Dates: November 15th, 2024…

STAGE MOTHER (2020): New Trailer From Lucy Liu, Adrian Grenier, Jacki Weaver…

Lucy Liu, Jacki Weaver and  Adrian Grenier are the stars of new comedy/drama Stage Mother.

Directed by Thom Fitzgerald, Stage Mother is the story of a conservative church choir director (Weaver), who inherits her late son’s San Francisco drag club.

This one is for when the need for a feel good movie strikes. That happens more frequently than usual these days, and I’m not mad about that.

There’s also the fact that I’ve been a Lucy Liu fan ever since Ally McBeal 1997-2002. Lastly, Jacki Weaver, who happens to be great in everything.

Mya Taylor, Lenore Zann, Anthony Skordi, Sofia Banzhaf, Eldon Thiele, Vox Smith, Oscar Moreno, Hugh Thompson and Allister MacDonald also star.

SET IT UP (2018): New Trailer Starring Zoey Deutch, Lucy Liu, Taye Diggs, Glen Powell…

Directed by Claire Scanlon, in Set It Up, Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell play two corporate executive assistants who hatch a plan to match-make their two bosses, played by Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu.

This one should hopefully be good for when I’m in the mood for some ‘easy viewing.’ I like Diggs and Liu. The latter, especially because I’m forever a massive fan of her character (Ling Woo) in Ally McBeal ( 1997-2002).

Set It Up Release Dates: June 15th, 2018 (US)…

KUNG FU PANDA 3 (2016): For The Overwhelming Cuteness…

Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016), Jack Black as Po
Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016), Jack Black as Po

I’m certain that most people, especially children will find Kung Fu Panda 3 very entertaining indeed.

Directed by Alessandro Carloni and Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Kung Fu Panda 3 has a lovely message about fulfilling your destiny, doing the right thing, family, friendship,  etc, which is beautiful. Nevertheless, I, for one, watched Kung Fu Panda 3 mainly for the humour. The story is good, too, but the cuteness of the animals was another big draw – and on that basis, the movie fully delivered.

Bryan Cranston’s Li voice and the ‘egg laying out of fear’ joke/sequence are definite highlights.

Watch it for the reasons above and because it’s truly good and fun.

Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, J.K. Simmons Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan and Lucy Liu are among the the key cast.
