SOVEREIGN (2025): New Trailer Starring Jacob Tremblay, Nick Offerman, Dennis Quaid…

From writer/director Christian Swegal, Sovereign is a crime/drama/thriller about a manhunt involving father/son anti-government extremists and the police.

Jacob Tremblay, Nick Offerman and Dennis Quaid are the key cast.

Offerman in a full-blown dramatic role is something to see. Fans (me included) of his great work as Ron Swanson on hit comedy series Parks and Recreation (2009–2015) will no doubt be intrigued, if the top YouTube comments for this trailer are anything to go by.

It’s always sad to see a child pulled into his unhinged parent’s shenanigans. As heavy as the premise is, I’m curious to see the ever-talented Tremblay continue to do great work.

I wonder if the story will explain what led to Offerman’s character’s current predicaments.

Are you ready for a fully snapped Swanson?

Megan Mullally, Kezia DaCosta, Ruby Wolf, Chris Greene, Jade Fernandez, Buddy Campbell, Bobby Gilchrist and Terry J. Nelson also star.

Sovereign Release Dates: July 11th, 2025 (US)…

WHY HIM (2016): The Things I Liked…

Why Him (2016), Bryan Cranston, Megan Mullally, James Franco
Why Him (2016), Bryan Cranston, Megan Mullally, James Franco

I’ve always enjoyed James Franco in comedy roles, more so than I do his dramatic work. I loved the trailer for Why Him, which was well-paced and fun. It also contained a healthy handful of good jokes and expletives.

Fast forward to the movie, it could be argued that there’s an unnecessary level of curse words, though, thankfully, not too uncomfortably gratuitous. Some scenes were a tad awkward and could have moved along more quickly. Yet, overall, I had a good time.

The soundtrack, Franco’s billionaire filterless character’s charm, Keegan Michael-Key’s fun estate manager and peculiar ‘European’ accent are key highlights.

I also enjoyed the way Megan Mullally’s Barb responds to Franco’s Laird. My favourite of her lines is ‘Quite the outdoorsman.’ Watch it and see why that line is so perfect when it’s delivered – and for the rest of the good jokes. That’s assuming all those colourful expletives haven’t scared you off, of course.

WHY HIM? (2016): New Trailer Starring James Franco, Bryan Cranston, Zoey Deutch…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Why Him? (2016).

Why Him? is the new ‘meet the parents’ comedy from James Franco, Bryan Cranston, Megan Mullally and Zoey Deutch.

This should be good because director/co-writer John Hamburg also wrote for the Paul Rudd and Jason Segel bromance classic,  I Love You, Man (2009). Plus, Ben Stiller’s Meet The Parents (2000).

James Franco in roles where he’s a little bit of an idiot, while also totally remaining lovable, are my favourites of his work. If you’ve seen and loved  Pineapple Express (2008) and  This Is The End (2013), then chances are you know exactly what I mean.

Why Him? Release Dates: December 25th, 2016 (US); January 6th, 2017 (UK); January 8th, 2017 (FR) January 12th, 2017 (GER)…

Keegan-Michael Key and Griffin Gluck also star.

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 (2015): New Trailer With Curly Redheaded Cuteness and Laughter…

Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015), Adam Sandler (Dracula)
Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015), Adam Sandler (Dracula)

Hotel Transylvania 2, written by and starring Adam Sandler looks like plenty of fun.

I love that the ‘little monster’ is reminiscent of the completely adorable and mischievous triplets from Disney’s Brave (2012).

No idea how it happens that I actually haven’t seen Hotel Transylvania (2012). So, now I know what I’m doing this Sunday evening.

Luenell, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Keegan-Michael Key, Fran Drescher, Molly Shannon, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman and Dana Carvey also star.
