DOCTOR SLEEP (2019): New Trailer For Stephen King’s The Shining Sequel Starring Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Jacob Tremblay…

Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and Jacob Tremblay are the stars of Doctor Sleep, a new horror movie based on Steven King’s novel of the same name.

Set decades after the events of The Shining (1980), a now-adult Dan Torrence meets a young girl with similar powers as his. Dan must try to protect her from a cult who prey on children with powers.

I’ve never seen The Shining, and that’s mainly because it’s a horror movie and I’m scared. It’s not completely my fault, though, because at seventeen, my Media Studies teacher wouldn’t let the class watch The Shining, since, according to her, it was too scary. I myself had zero objections with her decision – especially since by that point, I’d already seen The Omen (1976), the film responsible for my general aversion to scary movies since the age of twelve.

As for whether I’ll watch Doctor Sleep? I may just. Especially if others find it to be less scary than The Shining.

The moments I like in this new trailer include when Dan says the words ‘The Shinning’ – the penny drops and I realise what this is.

There’s also my general happiness at seeing Rebecca Ferguson as a cast member. She’s been one of my favourites ever since Mission – Impossible 5, Rogue Nation (2015). As for Jack Nicholson, the standout star of The Shining, I’m not even sure he’s still acting, but I definitely half expected that he’d show up in this trailer. He still might. Well, that’s assuming he wasn’t killed off; something I’d know had I actually seen the original movie.

Have you seen The Shining? Is it truly as scary as they say?

Zahn McClarnon, Bruce Greenwood, Carl Lumbly, Selena Anduze, Carel Struycken, Emily Alyn Lind, Jocelin Donahue, Nicholas Pryor and Selena Anduze also star.

Doctor Sleep Release Dates: October 31st, 2019 (UK); November 8th, 2019 (US)…

MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL (2019): New Trailer From Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, Rebecca Ferguson…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Men In Black – International (2019).

Protectors of Earth from the scum of the universe, the Men In Black are back with new F. Gary Gray-directed sci-fi/action/comedy, Men in Black – International.

Starring Tessa Thompson, Chris Hemsworth, Liam Neeson and Rebecca Ferguson, the focus this time is on dealing with a new big threat, a mole in the Men in Black organisation.

The chemistry between Thompson and Hemsworth is great. I can’t wait to see this new ‘international’ angle. It helps that it’s partly set in my beloved London town, but really, this trailer is pretty well done.

I’ve been a fan of Rebecca Ferguson as an action star since Mission – Impossible Rogue Nation (2015), and now, based on this trailer, Tessa Thomson is looking like another new favourite.

Fingers crossed that Hemsworth’s seemingly British accent turns out well.

Emma Thompson, Rafe Spall, Kumail Nanjiani and Davina Sitaram also star.

Men In Black International Release Dates: June 14th, 2019 (US & UK)…

MISSION – IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT (2018): The Things I Liked…

Mission - Impossible - Fallout (2018), Rebecca Ferguson

I took a moment to remember how much fun I had watching Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015), before sitting down to Tom Cruise’s latest movie, Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

The action sequences in Fallout are impressive, well-choreographed physical feats. You know, because it’s a Tom Cruise movie.

Yet, there was one moment at the beginning, in the scene with the plutonium, that felt too obvious as an action movie plot device. Specifically, due to its execution. Unfortunately, it was a moment that made me feel less enthused about the rest of the film.

As the story progressed, I was adequately engaged, but concluded that I probably need to give this franchise a break. That way, when I return, some years from now, it will feel fresh and new again.

In comparison, I definitely had more fun with Rogue Nation. The good news is that Fallout is still a worthy movie. It’s likely telling that what stood out most to me about it is the truly great face Rebecca Ferguson has, rather than a specific, memorable scene or moment of dialogue.

Watch Mission: Impossible – Fallout because it’s good. Who knows, it may even be your favourite.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and featuring new cast member Henry Cavill, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his Impossible Mission Force (IMF) team are called  upon to race against time after a mission gone wrong.

This is yet another fun-filled Mission: Impossible trailer. I’m ready for all the action. Especially since I thoroughly enjoyed Mission: Impossible 5 – Rogue Nation.
