Directed and co-written by James Gray; starring Brad Pitt, Ruth Negga, Tommy Lee Jones and Liv Tyler, Ad Astra is the story of an Army Corps engineer (Pitt) who’s searching across the galaxy for his father; a man who disappeared twenty years prior.

He’s also on a mission to unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet.

It’s the very likeable Mr Pitt, a promise of good visuals and what looks like a moving story. Everything to like.

The father/son ‘love story’ part makes me think of Interstellar (2014). I’m sure the films are quite different, but I look forward to finding out how much.

Kimberly Elise, Loren Dean, LisaGay Hamilton and John Ortiz also star.

The plot of Criminal involves the planting of a deceased persons skills and memories into another individual.

Sounds a lot like sci-fi to me, But it’s the brand new  action/drama from director of The Iceman (2012), Ariel Vroman. Ryan Reynolds, Gary Oldman, Kevin Costner and Gal Gadot are the stars.

This trailer, though not perfect, has me interested. The involvement of Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones gives me the most hope.

I wonder why Criminal isn’t categorised under sci-fi.

I never did get round to watching the version of the franchise that starred Jeremy Renner, The Bourne Legacy (2012). I mean, I am a Renner fan, but Damon just makes it look more exciting somehow. Perhaps it’s similar to how I know that Sean Connery makes a good James Bond, but Daniel Craig is my ultimate.
