HECTOR & THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS (2014): When Physical Distance Equals Clarity

Directed by Peter Chelsom and starring Simon Pegg, Hector & The Search For Happiness is about a man who realises that change must happen in his life.

Following this realisation, he checks out of his current situation and sets off in search of adventure and an answer to one big question.

During his search for happiness and what it means, he meets several interesting characters, gets into a few scrapes and learns plenty, especially about himself.

Chelsom’s movie has a few similarities to Eat Pray Love (2010) and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013). Hector & The Search For Happiness isn’t a terrible movie, but I do prefer the other two.

Whether you need convincing that travel is a good idea or not, this movie does a good job of reminding you of travel’s great ability to help you see things with renewed clarity; whether it’s because of the people you meet whilst away, or the physical distance from your daily routine.

Watch it and get some clarity, thanks to distance.

Happy Film Loving,
