DADDY’S HOME (2015): The Thing I liked…

Daddy's Home (2015), Mark Wahlberg
Daddy’s Home (2015), Mark Wahlberg (Real Dad)

Stepdad/biological dad comedy, Daddy’s Home stars Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, a pair who have shown great onscreen chemistry in the past. For example, 2010’s The Other Guys.

Directed by Sean Anders, Daddy’s Home won’t ask too much of you except that you sit down, relax, and accept a few laughs. Generally speaking, you’ll be ok as long as you don’t mind the absence of surprises, plot-wise.

The best thing about the movie, for me is the onscreen chemistry and verbal sparring between the two lead actors. If you love Farrell and or Wahlberg, you’ll probably watch the movie regardless. So, to that I say, enjoy! I’m excited for you about Daddy’s Home 2, which is due in November 2017.

ELF (2003): Will Ferrell Makes It Good…

Elf (2003), Will Ferrell

Silly, with several funny and moving moments, plus all the right messages for the christmas season is just one way to describe Elf.

Starring Will Ferrell in the title role, and directed by Jon Favreau; I’ve heard many people refer to Elf as their favourite Christmas movie. Having now seen it, I can’t say it’s mine, however Ferrell does a positively memorable job with his character.

If you weren’t already a fan of Ferrell, it’s quite likely that after the movie, you’ll recognise and applaud his comic capabilities. Just make sure you’re in the mood for some silly beforehand.

Zooey Dechanel’s beautiful singing voice and the characters played by Faison Love and Peter Dinklage are two more of my favourite things about Elf.

Watch it for a reminder of why so many people can’t help but look forward to Will Ferrell in comedy roles. Daddy’s Home (2015) is his latest comedy, which will arrive  just in time for Christmas 2015 and I’m certainly looking forward to it.

ZOOLANDER 2 (2016): A Teaser Trailer For Ben Stiller’s Return As Derek Zoolander

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Zoolander 2 (2016).

Written by Justin Theroux and directed by Ben Stiller, the teaser trailer for Zoolander 2 has arrived and a tease it absolutely is!

The sequel also stars Owen Wilson, Olivia Munn, Penelope Cruz, Kristen Wiig, billy Zane, Fred Armisen, and Christine Taylor.

I can’t wait to see Will Ferrell as Jacobim Mugatu. His performance in the original Zoolander (2001) film is one of my favourite Ferrell portrayals. Time to re-watch it, I think.

I could also do with a reminder of Zoolander’s impressive patented poses: Blue Steel, Ferrari, La Tigre and of course, Magnum.

Zoolander 2 Release Dates: February 6th (UK); February 9th (US)…

DADDY’S HOME (2015): New Comedy From Mark Wahlberg & Will Ferrell

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Daddy’s Home (2015).

In the new Daddy’s Home trailer starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, it looks like the famous charisma and charm synonymous with Wahlberg, coupled with Ferrell’s comedy expertise is going to result in a very funny movie. Especially when you add the ‘cool biological dad versus ‘new and not at all cool stepdad’ dynamic.

Directed by Sean Anders and John Morris (part of the team behind the fun 2013 comedy hit We’re The Millers), there’s no reason to not hope for good things.
