An aspiring rapper from a down trodden town in New Jersey is working on making it big. Patricia Dombrowski, a.k.a. Killa P, a.k.a. Patti Cake$ is her name and she’s played by Danielle McDonald in this Geremy Jasper directed drama.
Bridget Everett and Siddharth Dhananjay also star.
For obvious reasons, Eminem’s 8 Mile (2002) came to mind as I watched this trailer.
I’m curious about the film because I’m quite the sucker for a promising underdog story. You know, stories where people are winning regardless of all the doubters.
Fingers crossed this is a good one.

The Movie My Life 
I’m sorry – the only thing I could think of when looking at her is she reminds me of the Senator’s daughter in The Silence Of The Lambs! I’m not a fan of rap or aspiring rappers but the film seems to want to be charming and uplifting. Maybe it will succeed. I too like underdog films, so it does score there.
It’s been ages since I watched SOLs. The only people I recall are the two leads. I enjoy a well constructed rhyme so I’m always ready for good rap music, especially when I need something upbeat to run to at the gym.
This will be good as long as the lead character can rap well. I’m not sure yet, based on this trailer. 🙂
