Good instinct. 😉
I know, right? 😄
I’d say you have a lot of catching up to do, but sadly the original films have been corrupted beyond repair and would only spoil you against these more recent offspring. That said, they make a hell of a trailer, don’t they? 🙂
Thanks for the advice, monsieur. 😊
I certainly agree about the trailers and this looks so much more high budget than that other Rogue One movie.
Never confuse high budget with high craftsmanship. The original trilogy didn’t use a boatload of CGI and it looked and felt better than these new things. There was a rawness to the look which helped translate the feelings and activities in a way CGI just can’t. They were REAL. These are children’s cartoons in comparison.
Good point. Does that mean you enjoyed and maybe even preferred Rogue One?
I liked its look a bit more than the three from the turn of the millennium, but its plot was forgettable, offering nothing truly new to the world. The Empire Strikes Back is the one to see, after seeing the original Star Wars (what’s left of it) first for context. I loved the story from Episode III, but the execution of it on screen was torturously botched. Bad acting, horrible over-reliance on CGI, lousy characters…
Wow. Thanks. Your analysis is making me want to eventually see the originals. 😊
You really should. They were great. The older you can find them the better. Early VHS if you can find it is as close as you’ll probably ever get to seeing them in their original form. You can’t really claim to be a film buff until you’ve seen Star Wars 😉
In response to your last statement, HOW VERY DARE YOU! 😄
The truth is, I’ve never actually referred to myself as a ‘film buff’. I’m a person passionate about movies, especially the ones that really capture my imagination enough for me to see them. 😄 It’s just unfortunate that Star Wars falls into the genre of film that I’m not the most passionate about. Perhaps I’ll see the originals and find myself regretting why it took me so long, perhaps not. I know that one day the time wil lbe right to watch the Franchise. Somehow that time isn’t quite here yet.
Getting the films on VHS might be tough. I just hope to the heavens that I won’t feel about the franchise as I did when I watched the first three The Lord Of The Rings movies. By which I mean it was long and torturous and had me asking the very important question, ‘Why am I doing this to myself?’ Nevertheless, something tells me Star Wars won’t be that intense of a ‘suffering.’ 😊
LOTR sucks 😉 Star Wars is good to great depending on your tastes, but maybe you will find them boring. Things now are not quite like they were in the late 70s and early 80s when they first came out… Context is unescapable.
😂 ! I wouldn’t have taken you for a non-fan of LOTR.
You will no doubt be one of the first to know once I’ve seen a single Star Wars movie. So help me lord. I was going to say ‘may the force be with us both’ but since I know little about the franchise, I’m not sure how much sense that would make. 😊
It would make great sense 🙂
Wait, I’m thinking of The Force Awakens. I haven’t seen Rogue One yet, but I’ve heard generally good things about it. I’m not giving them any more money after all the chances they’ve had. I’ll see it when I find it showing free somewhere
I can’t blame you really. I doubt there’ll ever be an end to new Star Wars movies being made. Far too much money in it for Disney.
