THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES (2018): The Things I Liked…

In The Christmas Chronicles, siblings who try to catch Santa Claus on camera on Christmas Eve find themselves on an unforgettable adventure with him instead.

The first highlight of The Christmas Chronicles is the ‘performance’ while in jail. The second is ‘the world in Santa’s bag,’ the third is the very adorable way the words ‘Papa Noel’ are uttered towards the end. And last but not least is that very glorious red leather coat on Santa’s back. Santa’s beard is quite something too, but that coat!

When I wasn’t busy admiring the aforementioned, I was thinking that overall The Christmas Chronicles isn’t a terrible Christmas movie’. I mean, yes, there was a moment or a few when one of the young actors didn’t deliver their lines in a particularly believable way.

There was also a part of me that felt as though the older sibling was probably too old for some aspects of the story. Still, all these ‘inconveniences’ didn’t stop me from watching till the end. I guess I was just very much in the mood for Christmas.

Watch it if you’re so curious.

ARTEMIS FOWL (2020): New Trailer From Miranda Raison, Hong Chau, Judi Dench, Josh Gad, Ferdia Shaw…

Artemis Fowl is the new Kenneth Branagh-directed fantasy/adventure about young Irish criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl II.

Starring Ferdia Shaw, Hong Chau, Josh Gad and Judi Dench, Artemis kidnaps a fairy LEPRecon officer called Holly Short  for ransom; so he can fund the search for his missing father.

The name Artemis Fowl sounded familiar, yet until now, I hadn’t  a clue about this story. It’s a Disney film and directed by Branagh  (Cinderella (2015), so I have hope it’ll be worthy.

Nonso Anozie, Adrian Scarborough, Lara McDonnell and Nikesh Patel also star.

Artemis Fowl Release Dates: June 12th, 2020 (US &UK)…

A new version of the 1994 Disney classic The Lion King is coming in summer 2019. It’s a CGI and live-action re-imagining directed by Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book (2016).

The main characters are voiced by  Seth Rogen, Donald Glover, Keegan-Michael Key, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Beyonce, James Earl Jones, Eric André…

It’s so great that the wonderful bass of James Earl Jones’s voice is featured in both the 1994 version and this new movie.

I can’t wait to find out which version of the movie I prefer and how well all the distinct voices of the actors involved will sound together.

John Oliver, Florence Kasumba, Shahadi Wright Joseph and John Kani also star.

The Lion King Release Dates: July 19th, 2019 (US & UK)…

Set in a world where people collect pocket monsters (Pokémon) to do battle, Justice Smith (Jurassic World – Fallen Kingdom (2018is a boy who meets an intelligent monster named Pikachu who wants to be a detective.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu is directed by Rob Letterman while Ryan Reynolds voices Pikachu.

I personally know of Pikachu but I don’t know much about Pokemon. I’m mostly curious because I rather like Smith; even though I’ve only ever seen him in Jurassic World – Falling Kingdom.

It probably goes without saying, but Reynolds’s involvement is another reason I’m watching.

Suki Waterhouse, Bill Nighy, Kathryn Newton, Rita Ora, Chris Geere, Ken Watanabe, Karan Soni and Kadiff Kirwan also star.

Starring Kurt Russell, Oliver Hudson, Darby Camp, Judah Lewis and directed by Clay Kaytis, The Christmas Chronicles is an action/adventure about a sister and brother, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera, turns into a very unexpected adventure.

I’m not quite in the mood for this movie just yet but I will be in about a month and a half.

Fingers crossed I’ll like it enough to watch till the very end. What I know for sure is that the hair on Russell’s face and head is a great incentive. Am I right or am I right?

Lamorne Morris, Lauren Collins and Kimberly Williams-Paisley also star.

The Christmas Chronicles Release Dates: November 22nd, 2018 (US)…
