THE DEATH OF STALIN (2017): New Trailer From Rupert Friend, Steve Buscemi, Olga Kurylenko, Jeffrey Tambor, Jason Isaacs…

Directed and co-written by Armando Iannucci, The Death Of Stalin is a drama/biography that’s loosely based on Stalin, the Soviet dictator’s last days.

Starring Rupert Friend, Steve Buscemi, Olga Kurylenko, Jeffrey Tambor and Jason Isaacs, the film depicts the chaos of the regime after Stalin’s death.

Undoubtedly, I’m in for the humour and the dialogue. How could I not be with beautifully delivered lines such as the following…?

‘Our General Secretary is lying, in a puddle of indignity.’

‘I may as well just shoot myself, like mother.’

I’m guessing that Jeffrey Tambor isn’t actually playing a Russian that grew up in Russia;. Otherwise how would one explain his American accent?

Andrea Riseborough, Paddy Considine, Michael Palin and Roger Ashton-Griffiths also star.

FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER – A DAUGHTER Of CAMBODIA REMEMBERS (2017): New Trailer From Director Angelina Jolie…

First They Killed My Father – A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers is the latest from director Angelina Jolie.

Starring Sareum Srey Moch, Phoeung Kompheak and Sveng Socheata, the film tells the story of Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung and the horrors she suffered under the rule of the deadly Khmer Rouge.

This is one of my favourite trailers of 2017 so far. The absence of dialogue and all that we don’t yet see makes the imagery that much more chilling. I wonder how this will compare to the child soldier story of Cary Joji Fukunaga’s  Beasts Of No Nation (2015).

I have no doubt that this will be moving and inspiring, in a way that’s similiar to Jolie’s last biography, Unbroken (2014)

THE DISASTER ARTIST (2017): New Trailer From James Franco, Seth Rogen, Dave Franco, Alison Brie, Zac Efron…

The Disaster Artis (2017), James Franco
The Disaster Artis (2017), James Franco

Starring James Franco, Seth Rogen, Dave Franco, Alison Brie and Zac Efron, to name just a few, The Disaster Artist is a drama/comedy that tells the real-life story of writer/director Tommy Wiseau.

Wiseau is the man behind what is often referred to as ‘The Citizen Kane of Bad Movies,’ The Room (2003).

Directed by James Franco, The Disaster Artist chronicles the troubled development and eventual cult success of  Wiseau’s film.

I’m hoping this will be great, considering how odd and entertaining this trailer is. I’ll tune in also because the James Franco/Seth Rogen partnership has never, ever let me down.

All I need to decide now is whether it’s worth trying to watch The Room before seeing this movie, or not.

The Disaster Artist Release Dates: December 8th, 2017 (US); 2017 (UK)…

24×36 – A MOVIE ABOUT MOVIE POSTERS (2016): New Trailer For Documentary About The Illustrated Movie Poster…

24X36 - A movie About Movie Posters (2016)
24X36 – A movie About Movie Posters (2016)

24X36 – A Movie About Movie Posters is a Kevin Burke-directed documentary about the birth, death, and resurrection of the illustrated movie poster.

Film director Joe Dante, artists Orlando Arocena, David Byrd,  Matt Tobin and Andrea Alvin are among those featured.

As I go about my days away from home, encountering a movie poster for a film I’m looking forward to seeing has always been a highlight.

In fact, it never fails to put a smile on my face. Sadly, though, that’s probably the only time when I actually care about movie posters. Even then, my interest is never really about the artistry, unless it’s amazing or the opposite extreme.

I want to see this documentary to find out what I may be missing. Perhaps I’ll encounter an illustrated movie poster I just have to have. Since I’m not into comic books either, the likelihood isn’t great; in which case I’ll probably be happy to settle for an education.

How about you?

DARKEST HOUR (2017): New Trailer From Gary Oldman, Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn, Kristin Scott Thomas…

Darkest Hour (2017), Gary Oldman
Darkest Hour (2017), Gary Oldman

Darkest Hour is directed by Joe Wright (Atonement (2007) and stars Gary Oldman, Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Wright’s movie tells the story of Winston Churchill’s most defining trial: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.

I’ll see this because Oldman is great and it sounds as though he may have nailed Churchill’s voice. There’s also Churchill’s very famous inspirational quotes to look forward to.

Darkest Hour Release Dates: November 22nd, 2017 (US); January 12th, 20018 (UK)…
