I filmed my first ever video response/commentary/review of a movie I’ve recently seen.

The lucky movie this time  is Jordan Peele’s Get Out. If you read my original review on this blog you’ll already know some of what I have to say. Nevertheless, and without further ado…

A Movie Fanatic’s MOVIENIGHT Routine…

My Movie Fanatic's Routine - From Trailer To Theatre, TheMovieMyLife
My Movie Fanatic’s Movienight Routine – From Trailer To Theatre, TheMovieMyLife

It’s no secret that I love movies, ALOT! Therefore, it should be no surprise that I have a checklist of things I must do to make sure I have the optimum movie night experience at the theatre. Without further-a-do…

  1. I must get a good night’s sleep. This is so I’m fully awake and ready to receive what I anticipate will be epic cinematic goodness.
  2. I make sure I’m not hungry, thirsty are need the restroom because I will not have my ‘special movie night me time‘ interrupted because I didn’t plan well. Also, I’ll take sips of water but I generally don’t eat at the movies because it takes my attention away from the epic cinematic goodness, of course.
  3. I make sure to get to the theatre, not only before the trailers but before the adverts too, because I don’t do lateness. Full disclosure, I may have seen the adverts and trailers before, but did I see the trailers on the big screen? Exactly.
  4. I will get the perfect seat, which usually means somewhere in the middle of the room.
  5. I come with a sweater, jacket or scarf because movie theatres get cold. I need to focus on the movie, not my airconditioning induced goosebumps.
  6. I will not watch a movie if I’m late by a few minutes because those few minutes could have been crucial. Furthermore, I came for the full experience, and the FULL experience is what I’m going to have.

Lastly, you may be wondering, due to all these rules, do I often go to the movies on my lonesome? Absolutely! And do I mind one little bit? ‘Of Course not!

7+ Great Websites For The Film Fanatic…

Websites For The Film Fanatic (2017), TheMovieMyLife
Websites For The Film Fanatic (2017), TheMovieMyLife

Below are the websites I frequent for the latest movie trailers, movie ratings and interviews with filmmakers I adore.

  1. I’ll start by stating the most obvious one, Internet Movie Database (IMDb). The place I go to first to find out all my movie, actor filmography and filmmaker information.
  2. Rotten Tomatoes is where I go when a movie’s info hasn’t been updated on IMDb just yet. Or, to get another version of a movie’s synopsis.
  3. Apple Trailers often has some exclusives, which makes it great to check if you haven’t come across enough good new trailers lately. Or, as part of your trailer search routine.
  4. The Hollywood Reporter (THR)‘s YouTube channel features plenty of Hollywood movie news, but I go to it for their Roundtable interviews with actors, directors, producers, etc. The roundtables are a special event around award season.
  5. Inside The Actor’s Studio is a great show that features in-depth interviews of great actors; interviews that reveal their origin stories and motivations. I love this show. Either watch the show on Bravo or find some great clips on YouTube.
  6. Variety’s Actors on Actors series on their YouTube channel is another good one where actors interview each other about recent roles.
  7. There are also the many movie blogs I follow and numerous YouTube channels by movie studios, production companies and independent trailer channels.

HOW TO NOT LET MOVIE TRAILERS SPOIL THE MOVIE…

TheMovieMyLife & Trailers
TheMovieMyLife & Trailers

One of the biggest irritants for film fans these days is the increase in the number of movie trailers that give away more of a story than is necessary. As a result, I know a handful of people who have opted out of watching trailers altogether.

I can’t even, not for a second entertain quitting trailers. And so adapt, I have. Not by embracing terrible trailers that ruin what could have been great movies mind you. But by choosing how many of the – I don’t know, 3 to 20 variations of a trailer that movie studios are committed to pushing these days. Put simply, I watch no more than two trailers max for one movie.

Can you even imagine not watching trailers anymore? Such a sad thought, right?

To bring you back to a happier thought, how about the Latest Kingsman Trailer?
