HAMPSTEAD (2017): The Thing I Liked…

Hampstead (2017), Diane Keaton, Grendan Gleeson
Hampstead (2017), Diane Keaton, Grendan Gleeson

Hampstead is a story of unexpected love between a widow and a man who is technically homeless but not quite. It’s also a film you can watch without having to work too hard. The acting isn’t terrible and the story, though predictable, it moved along quite nicely and provided some small moments of amusement.

What I enjoyed most about Hampstead is the fact that Hampstead is a real place and one of the the most beautiful parts of London, England. It was great to see the beauty of Hampstead captured so well. Particularly during spring and summer.

Should I find myself watching it again, it will likely be so I can experience Hampstead the place, on film once more. It’s worth it for that.

Another reason you may watch could be if you’re a big fan of Keaton and or Gleeson. Otherwise it’s an OK romance/comedy.

For me at least,  It’s Complicated (2009) is still probably my favourite of the ‘mature romance’ category.

PADDINGTON 2 (2018): New Trailer From Hugh Grant, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Hugh Bonneville, Peter Capaldi…

Paddington 2 (2018) Ben Whishaw (Voice)
Paddington 2 (2018) Ben Whishaw (Voice)

Starring Hugh Grant, Hugh Bonneville, Ben Whishaw, Peter Capaldi, Brendan Gleeson and a handful more British actors, director Paul King is back with Paddington 2, a sequel to the 2014 animated family comedy. The story picks with Paddington who’s now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community. He works odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday but unfortunately, the gift is stolen…

I haven’t seen the original Paddington (2014) simply because the mood for it never really struck. It’s probably time I did, particularly to see another example of how Britishness, British charm and the streets of London are portrayed on the big screen.

Sally Hawkins, Imelda Staunton, and Julie Walters also star.

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Hampstead (2017)

Hampstead is the new drama set in Hampstead, London. A film that stars Diane Keaton, Brendan Gleeson and James Norton.

Directed by Joel Hopkins, it’s a story of unexpected love.

My curiosity about Hampstead is fuelled by the hope that it’s fun and funny in a way that’s reminiscent of  It’s Complicated (2009).

Additionally Hampstead, London is a beautiful area I’ve been to a number of times. Now I’m excited to experience it on film for what is likely the very first time.

Hampstead Release Dates: June 23rd, 2017 (UK)…

TRESPASS AGAINST US (2016): New Trailer From Michael Fassbender, Brendan Gleeson…

Trespass Against Us (2016), Michael Fassbender
Trespass Against Us (2016), Michael Fassbender

Trespass Against Us is Michael Fassbender’s new movie. Also starring Brendan Gleeson and directed by Adam Smith, Fassbender is a member of an outlaw family who’s trying to escape the criminal life…

I’m not a big fan of this trailer edit. I don’t like what it suggests about the quality of the movie. Nevertheless I remain curious especially about what it is that may have appealed to Fassbender, besides the chance to speak in his country’s accent, of course.

Trailer 2

Though I’ve never played the game,  I’m aware of it because it’s popular and I love the artwork,  including Aguilar’s costume. This may or may not mean that I have a crush on a computer game character…

The director is Justin Kurzel who has also worked with Fassbender and Cotillard in the visually stunning Macbeth (2015)

IN THE HEART OF THE SEA (2015): New Trailer From Chris Hemsworth & Cillian Murphy

In The Heart Of The Sea (2015), Chris Hemsworth
In The Heart Of The Sea (2015), Chris Hemsworth

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy and Ben Whishaw, In The heart of The Sea tells the story of the the 1820 sinking of Whaleship Essex in the pacific Ocean…

In The heart Of The Sea (2015) Trailer

Directed by Ron Howard and based on the book by Nathaniel Philbrick, the thing that excites me most about this movie is the special effects. Whales are beautiful, majestic creatures and loving them as I do, I don’t know how easily I’ll be able to look at the whale as the ‘bad guy.’ On second thought, I’m thinking quite easily if I put myself in the place of the crew whose ship just sunk.

In the event that after seeing the In The heart of The Sea trailer, you thought the film was based on a different famous book, namely  Moby Dick by Herman Melville, you’re not alone. For it is the same 1820 event that inspired Melville to write his famous story, first published in 1851.

I’m quite sure I’ll still love whales after watching In The Heart Of The Sea, how ever ‘bad’ this one particular whale may be.

Suffragette (2015), Carey Mulligan

At least three of my favourite Actresses are in Suffragette, June’s first trailer of the week.

Starring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep, I’m almost certain that this film is going to be great…

I am very much looking forward to watching and honouring the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement.
