New crime/drama Kajillionaire stars Evan Rachel Wood as a young woman whose life is turned upside down when her criminal parents invite an outsider (Gina Rodriguez) to join them on a major heist they’re planning.

Also starring Debra Winger and Richard Jenkins Kajillionaire is written/directed by Miranda July.

I’m in because this one seems very peculiar indeed, the cast is the reliable kind and I want to know more about Wood’s character’s parents. Based on the scene the smile in the above picture is from, at least one of them seems to really enjoy being a nuisance.

Ian Casselberry, Diana Maria Riva, Patricia Belcher, Adam Bartley, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mark Ivanir, Challen Cates, Steve Park, Madeleine Coghlan and Rachel Redleaf also star.

Kajillionaire Release Dates: September 18th, 2020 (US)…

In Frozen 2, the goal is for Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf is to learn the truth about an ancient mystery of their kingdom. And so begins an adventure far in the forest…

Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, key cast includes Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Sterling K. Brown…

I think I’ve seen Frozen (2013) but there’s a chance I only think I have because so many people talked about it a lot post release.

What I know for sure is that this trailer has me curious about the idea that Elsa may have to ‘save the world.’ On second thought, that probably sounds too super hero-ish, so chances are I’m completely wrong.

One more thing, I really like the vocals in this trailer. The results would be completely unrecordable, for sure; yet I wouldn’t mind trying to sing the featured song while backed by what sounds like a fantastic orchestra. Step aside Florence Foster Jenkins (2016)!

Evan Rachel Wood and Jonathan Groff also star.

Frozen 2 Release Dates: November 22nd, 2019 (US & UK)…

Kristen Bell, Evan Rachel Wood and Jonathan Groff are back for the Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee directed sequel to Disney’s Frozen (2013).

This time an adventure awaits Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf as they go far in the forest to learn the truth about an ancient mystery of their kingdom….

I actually think I’d forgotten how much I appreciated the animation style of the first Frozen movie. The adventure / story will be engaging, no doubt but these visuals, I’m quite excited about.

Sterling K. Brown and Josh Gad also star.

Frozen 2 Release Dates: November 22nd, 2019 (US & UK)…

WESTWORLD (2016): New Trailer For HBO Series Starring Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris…

Westworld (2016), Evan Rachel Wood

Set at a futuristic theme park populated by artificial beings, HBO’s new sci-fi series, Westworld is inspired by Michael Crichton’s 1973 movie of the same name.

I’m not exactly the biggest  sci-fi fan but I’ve identified a number of reasons to get excited about Westworld. One of them is a cast list that includes well respected names like Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris and Evan Rachel Wood. Another big reason is the writers who are husband and wife team Lisa Joy Nolan and Jonathan Nolan. That’s  Jonathan Nolan, brother to Christopher Nolan and co-screenwriter of some of the best action / sci-fi  movies of recent years; – The Dark Knight (2008)Inception (2010) and Interstellar (2014),  to name just three…

Teaser trailer

Trailer 1

I’m already in love with  Westworld  because of the reasons above – including the trailer. Needless to say I’ll be tuning in.

I’m just hoping that when the time comes, the show will end in a reasonably timely manner. You know,  before it becomes annoyingly tedious and not very good… for example, as much as I don’t completely dislike Game Of Thrones, I feel as though it needs to be wrapped up already.

Westworld starts in October 2016 on HBO.

BAREFOOT (2014): The Good & Bad Things…

Barefoot (2014), Scott Speedman, Evan Rachel Wood
Barefoot (2014), Scott Speedman, Evan Rachel Wood

In Barefoot, Scott Speedman is the ‘black sheep’ of a wealthy family. At the heart of the story is the unexpected romance that blossoms after he meets a psychiatric patient played by Evan Rachel Wood.

The plot is certainly interesting. It’s just unfortunate that I didn’t find myself connecting enough with the two protagonists. I felt aware the whole time and especially in the beginning that I was watching Evan Rachel Wood playing a psychiatric patient, rather than getting swept into the world of the story.

Directed by Andrew Fleming, Barefoot also stars J.K. Simmons and Kate Burton – both of whom I adore. However, I’m afraid even they couldn’t save the film. Besides a few good songs on the soundtrack, for me, there are minimal notable highlights.

I’d sooner recommend watching something like Silver Linings Playbook (2012) instead because like Barefoot, it’s a romantic drama / comedy about two misfits with their own unique problems who end up falling in love – and it’s certainly far more convincing.

Barefoot, only if you really must 🙂
