Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, X-Men – The New Mutants follows five young mutants who are just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will. They must fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

The X-Men young mutant story is one I’m more familiar with than I particularly care to be. However, this one has my attention because of the ‘horror’ and the setting/psychoanalysis element.

There’s also the fact that no mention of ‘coming together to save the world’ has taken place; a pleasant surprise for those fatigued by the superhero movie formula.
