Mel Gibson, Kevin James, Mason Thames and Noah Cottrell star in Monster Summer, an adventure/horror/mystery directed by David Henrie.

At the sent is the story of a mysterious force. One that disrupts Noah and his friends’ much-anticipated summer fun.

This is giving me R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps, but potentially better.

It already looks as though the young actors have been well cast. As such, I’m down for the nostalgic scares that almost certainly won’t induce nightmares. I’m also curious about the story of the monster.

Lastly, I haven’t given much thought to this idea, but, I think it would be quite fun to be like the Mel Gibson character in real life; someone harmless that children find terrifying because of rumours that got out of hand. I can tell you agree.

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Fatman (2020).

Fatman is a new comedy/thriller about what can happen to you when you’re Santa Claus and you disappoint the wrong child at Christmas. Said disappointed child can quite easily hire a hitman to end you.

Directed by Eshom Nelms and Ian Nelms; additional key cast includes Shaun Benson, Chance Hurstfield, Jordan Blais and Deborah Grover.

I often like to watch trailers before I read the synopsis, and this one certainly didn’t go where I thought it would.

I’m looking forward to the humour and what looks like a great performance by Goggins and young Chance Hurstfield who plays the aforementioned very, VERY disappointed child.

Paulino Nunes, Michelle Lang, Bill Turnbull, Robert Bockstael, Bill Lake, Michael Dickson, Joyce Rivera and Sean Tucker also star.

From director Farhad Safinia; starring Mel Gibson, Sean Penn, Steve Coogan and Natalie Dormer, The Professor And The Madman is the origin story of the principal historical dictionary of the English language, the Oxford English Dictionary.

After Professor James Murray started the dictionary in the mid 19th century, he soon received more than 10,000 entries from Dr. William Minor. A man who happened to be a patient at Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum.

In all my years of appreciating the beauty of the English language, not once have I given a single thought to the founding of the English Dictionary. As a fan of words I sure hope this one is a tale even more interesting than this trailer suggests.

My fingers are also crossed that all the logophiles and lexicographers will have a good time.

Jennifer Ehle, Ioan Gruffudd, Jeremy Irvine, Aidan McArdle, Brendan Patricks, David Crowley and Kieran O’Reilly also star.

The first Daddy’s Home (2015) movie starring Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Linda Cardelilni featured a ‘cool biological dad versus new and not so cool stepdad’ dynamic between Ferrell and Wahlberg.

For the Sean Anders-directed sequel, the same dynamic remains, except this time, Ferrell and Wahlberg’s characters are the best of friends, but their dads, played by Mel Gibson and John Lithgow, are certainly not that.

The original film was okay and featured some memorable scenes. I’ll be tuning in this time for much of the same and hopefully more. I already love that kiss between Lithgow and Ferrell’s characters.
