Written/directed by Ben Crescimen, Sun Choke is the story of a young woman called Janie; a woman on a journey to get well after a violent psychotic break.
I’m hoping that I’m thoroughly convinced by Sarah Hagan’s portrayal of psychosis. Especially since her character’s journey and any truths I can learn about her particular disorder are the main reasons I’m interested in watching this one.
Evan Jones, Jim Boeven, Christina Amber and Derik Bevil also star.
Deepwater Horizon is the latest from Mark Wahlberg, the story about the explosion of the drilling rig that caused the worst oil spill in US history.
Teaser trailer
I like what they’ve done concept-wise with this teaser trailer. Yet, I don’t currently find myself particularly excited about the movie, at least not yet. Perhaps the release of the non-teaser will change that – and it has.
No doubt the ending will be heroic. I’m really hoping that Gina Rodriguez’s character doesn’t die.
John Malkovich, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell and Dylan O’Brien also star.
Today’s crime thriller, starring Elijah Wood and Nicolas Cage looks promising.
I’m still holding onto the dream of seeing Cage in films I loved as much as I did Face/ Off (1997). Fingers, toes and everything crossed that this comes close being as fun.
A Beautiful Planet (2016), Narrated by Jennifer Lawrence
A Beautiful Planet is a new documentary that follows a group of astronauts as they capture footage of planet earth from as far as outer space.
The visuals are certainly very appealing. I’m also excited to learn a few interesting things that a non-scientist like myself has absolutely no clue about.
I very suddenly have a strong desire to watch Gravity (2012). Anyone else?
Today’s trailer stars Damian Lewis, Stellan Skarsgård, Ewan McGregor and Naomie Harris. All are reasonably reliable names when it comes to how good a film is likely to be.
Quite unexpectedly though, after watching this preview, the question that’s lingering in my mind is why I’m not currently filled with complete confidence about the expected quality of the finished product. The answer is in a combination of things. There’s the general look and feel which isn’t particularly cinematic.
I’d hoped for more in terms of music choice, sound, dialogue – its delivery and the trailer’s general execution. Especially in terms of how gripped I am by what I’m seeing. Even more so considering the fact that Our Kind of Traitor is a thriller based on a best selling book by the author of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011).
Our Kind Of Traitor (2016), Naomie Harris, Ewan McGregor
I’d love to be wrong because I want to believe the trailer editor has simply made some – in my opinion, questionable choices, which would then mean the finished product and perhaps a later version of the trailer will be better. I’d much rather that be true than the idea that this movie won’t be great. I truly would like to be wrong. Except, I wasn’t wrong about Burnt (2015).
