FLIGHT RISK (2024): New Trailer Starring Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace, Michelle Dockery…

Directed by Mel Gibson; Flight Risk is a new action/thriller starring Mark Wahlbeg, Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace. One in which not all parties aboard a very important flight are who they say they are.

First came Jason Bateman as a terrorist in Carry-On (2024). Now we have Wahlberg, who’s usually a hero who saves the day, playing a very bad man intent on perverting the course of justice.

I’m interested in what will hopefully be gripping mid-air action. I also want to see how quickly I’ll get used to Wahlberg as a balding baddie.

How do you feel about Flight Risk so far? I’m hopeful because Gibson is a good director as confirmed via Apocalypto (2006).

Monib Abhat, Georgi S. Georgiev, Atanas Srebrev, Savanah Joeckel and Paul Ben-Victor also star.

Flight Risk Release Dates: January 24th, 2025 (US & UK)…

WAR MACHINE (2017): New Trailer Starring Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, Will Poulter…

Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton and Will Poulter’s latest movie, War Machine is a satire of America’s war with Afghanistan.

Directed by David Michôd, the comedy/drama focuses on the people running the war campaign.

I’m excited about this one. Following the trailer for Bright (2017) starring Will Smith, and Okja (2017) with Jake Gyllenhaal, War Machine is the third trailer in three days for a movie starring a Hollywood A-lister, that’s due to be released exclusively on Netflix. Interesting times indeed.

On another note, I kind of already inherently knew this, but my goodness, Brad Pitt is easy to watch. I guess it’s called charisma… among other things.

Emory Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Topher Grace, Scoot McNairy and Anthony Michael Hall also star.

War Machine Release Dates: May 26th, 2017, (UK); 2017 (US)…

TRUTH (2015): For Blanchett’s Performance…

Truth (2015), Cate Blanchett
Truth (2015), Cate Blanchett

TV news producer Mary Mapes, news anchor Dan Rather and the events that led to very harsh scrutiny, especially aimed at Mapes (Cate Blanchett) is what Truth is about. It is also a movie worth seeing especially for Cate Blanchett fans.

Directed by James Vanderbilt, I appreciate Truth as a film that features a few good people  who make decisions based on factors including how easy it will be to live with themselves afterwards. I enjoyed the dialogue towards the end, especially since I want to believe that I would perform as well as Mapes – should I ever find myself in a similar high pressure predicament.

I watched Truth because I knew it would be worth it for Blanchett’s performance alone -and it is. By the end I was also happy to learn a few hard truths about the world of news journalism.

John Benjamin Hickey’s portrayal of a dedicated, thoughtful and unflinchingly supportive husband is another personal highlight. I always love such stories of great friendships. Joy (2015) comes to mind as a recent example that features a great friend played by Dascha Polanco.

Robert Redford, Topher Grace, Dennis Quaid, David Lyons, Stacy Keach and Elisabeth Moss are all good in their roles, of course. But watch it for the main performance. I’ve seen Blanchett in many films, and picking a favourite still proves impossible.

Truth is the latest from Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford and first time director James Vanderbilt.

AMERICAN ULTRA (2015): Chaotic & Fun Adventure Ahead…

American Ultra (2015), Kristen Stewart, Jessie Eisenberg
American Ultra (2015), Kristen Stewart, Jessie Eisenberg

I’m hoping that  Kristen Stewart and Jessie Eisenberg’s new film, American Ultra ends up delivering all the thrills suggested in this fun looking, mad and chaotic trailer.

Directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X (2012), the film appears to be one of those stoner comedy/adventure types; kind of like one of my favourites, Pineapple Express (2008). Wouldn’t that be just great?

I’m looking forward to seeing both Stewart and Eisenberg in these different looking roles, compared to their usual work.

John Leguizamo, Topher Grace and Connie Britton also star.

American Ultra Release Dates: August 21st, 2015 (US)…
