HIGH FLYING BIRD (2019): New Trailer From Zazie Beetz, Zachary Quinto, André Holland, Melvin Gregg…

High Flying Bird (2019), André Holland

Zazie Beetz, Zachary Quinto, André Holland and Melvin Gregg are the stars of director Steven Soderbergh’s new drama, High Flying Bird.

At the centre of the story is a sports agent who pitches a rookie basketball client an intriguing and controversial business opportunity during an NBA lockout / shutdown

Right away, I like the rhythm and flow of this trailer edit. It’s giving me HBO’s Ballers vibes and a little hint of Entourage – another HBO show. I guess that’s why I first thought this was a TV series.

I want to see precisely what the intriguing yet controversial opportunity is and how far it gets. I also just really like the title, ‘High Flying Bird’.

Lastly, in reference to 0:19 in this trailer, when was it agreed that Basketball was the ‘sexiest sport?’ Surely football / soccer is the one.

Kyle MacLachlan, Michelle Ang, Bill Duke, Glenn Fleshler, Sonja Sohn, Caleb McLaughlin also star.

High Flying Bird Release Dates: February 8th, 2019 (US)…

Who We Are Now is a Matthew Newton written / directed drama about an ex-con (Julianne Nicholson) trying to get custody of her son, with help from an idealistic young public defender (Emma Roberts).

Jason Biggs and Zachary Quinto also star…

The cast is good, I enjoy courtroom dramas and I’m curious about the human story. Particularly the challenges faced by the protagonist.

TALLULAH (2016): Good Story, Well Acted…

Tallulah (2016), Ellen Page
Tallulah (2016), Ellen Page

I tuned into Tallulah because of the near enough justifiable madness I saw in the trailer; a person taking a stranger’s baby because said stranger is without a doubt an unfit mother.

Starring Ellen Page, Allison Janney, Tammy Blanchard  and written/ directed by Sian Heder, Tallulah has a thing or two to say about the sacrifice that is motherhood – especially via Blanchard’s unfit mother / dissatisfied Beverly Hills housewife character.

Well edited and acted, it’s worth watching for the story and the chance to have all the evidence so you can think about how close you’d have come to ‘taking the baby’, calling child protective services, doing nothing or something else. Ponder on that friends!

Tallulah (2016), Ellen Page

Talulah, a Netflix original film starring Ellen Page, Tammy Blanchard and Allison Janney is about a dissatisfied Beverly Hills housewife / negligent mother –  who hires a troubled stranger to babysit her toddler…

Written and directed by Sian Heder, the story appeals but I’m most looking forward to the performances by Blanchard, Page, Janney and  Uzo Aduba.

Also featuring Zachary Quinto, may the story / execution surprise and delight.

Tallulah Release Dates: July 29th, 2016, Netflix (US)

FOR THE LOVE OF SPOCK (2016): New Trailer For Documentary About Leonard Nimoy & Star Trek’s Spock

For The Love Of Spock (2016) Leonard Nimoy
For The Love Of Spock (2016) Leonard Nimoy

For The Love Of Spock is a new documentary about the impact left by late Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, through his portrayal os Spock…

Directed by Nimoy’s son Adam, we get to hear from those who knew him personally, including  J. J. Abrams, William Shatner and Zachary Quinto.

I’m interested in this documentary because I’m aware that Nimoy and his famous character are much loved. I used to watch re-runs of Star Trek as a teenager so I’m curious to see what it is that’s special about Nimoy and his famous character. Something  tells me  that my young teenage brain probably missed a few things.  I do however recall that most famous line ‘Live long and prosper’ plus of course, the Vulcan salute.

SNOWDEN (2016): New Trailer From Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Shailene Woodley

When I first saw the teaser trailer for writer / director Oliver Stone’s new film about Edward Snowden, I was disappointed that it didn’t reveal a little more than the films title – Snowden and a few facts about the protagonist…

Teaser trailer

However, I watched the teaser again some weeks later and was reminded that just because I wanted more footage there and then, doesn’t necessarily mean that I should have had it. Instead of being mad at the tease, my imagination did overtime as I began to picture all sorts of dramatic scenes. Scenes with dialogue as engaging as the brilliant as screenwriter Aaron Sorkin’s words in The Social Network  Would’t that be fantastic?

Even if Snowden turns out to be nothing like The Social Network, all that really matters is that it’s good. Just as well then that the below trailer looks mighty promising.

The new trailer for the latest Star Trek movie just arrived…

Trailer 1

Trailer 2

I didn’t find myself particularly enthused after trailer one, on account of the peculiar music choice and me generally not being a ‘trekkie’ / massive Star Trek fan. However, trailer two is better and I’m certain  trekkies will likeit even more than I do.

Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Idris Elba, Zachary Quinto,  Sofia Boutella and Simon Pegg star whilst Justin Lin directs.

Release Date (s): July 22nd (US & UK)…

HITMAN – AGENT 47 (2015): Looks Like Serious ‘Badassery’ Ahead, Starring Rupert Friend…

In case you thought Avengers – Age Of Ultron (2015), The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  (2015) and Spectre (2015) (to name just three) aren’t enough action and adventure for 2015, here comes one more.

Directed by Aleksander Bach and starring Rupert Friend, Zachary Quinto and Hannah Ware, HitMan – Agent 47 arrives with the story of an engineered human assassin on his latest mission…

I’m excited for Friend because he was great in Starred Up (2013), along with jack O’Connell, and this is an excitingly different kind of role.

How cool is that line about the gun? I know you heard it.
