Tom Hardy’s Legend has a great new trailer. This third version is so well put together that you’re not going to be happy when it’s over. Sounds like an odd thing to say, until you realise that it’s only July and the release date is in two to three months time.
Impatiently goes our wait to witness the extraordinary transformation of Mr. Hardy, great British humour and that good, good music.
While in the mood for a good comedy this week, I opted for a buddy cop classic.
Starring Chris Tucker, Jackie Chan and directed by Brett Ratner, Rush Hour 2 (2001) is one of my absolute favourite funny films.
The first instalment, Rush Hour (1998) is of course great, but I love Rush Hour 2 more. Not just for the reason that it has the following clip which contains the only instance of Karaoke I have ever been able to enjoy, but because it really is good. Particularly as this time, unlike in the first movie, Jackie Chan’s Lee character cracks a few jokes of his own.
The reason why the karaoke scene above works so well – besides Tucker’s comedic excellence is the fact that the guy ‘singing’ beforehand seems to believe that he’s actually doing a great job; when clearly that couldn’t be more incorrect. Featuring a Michael Jackson classic ‘Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough’ certainly doesn’t hurt the scene either.
If you haven’t already, and or the above clip has convinced you, watch Rush Hour 2 because it’s funny. But be sure to remember that it’s best to start with 1998’s Rush Hour.
Roselyn Sanchez and Ziyi Zhang are also among the key cast.
London Has Fallen (2016), Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart
As unsettling as the idea behind London Has Fallen (2016) may be, the new movie directed by Babak Najafi and starringGerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart and Charlotte Riley looks like it’s going to be quite the spectacle.
The imagery of London actually falling is certainly horrific, but I still couldn’t help yelping with joy at the excellent execution of this teaser trailer.
Talk about haunting trailer music.
Trailer 1…
I guess it’s time to plan the viewing of the first instalment, Olympus Has Fallen (2013). Probably and quite likely.
Funny/bearded actor Zach Galifianakis, best known for his excellent turn in the Hangover (2009) movies as the somewhat unhinged Alan is back.
This time, Galifianakis comes with Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson and Kate Mckinnon in Masterminds – a verypromising new comedy due this summer.
I’m most excited about Galifiniakis, of course; but also the character played by Sudeikis.
Fingers firmly crossed that this movie is filled with more great lines and scenes not yet shown in the trailer. Please and thank you.
The Legend Of Barney Thomson (2015), Robert Carlyle, Emma Thompson
I love Emma Thompson and it looks like her new film which features Robert Carlyle as Director and star, is the kind that will only make me love her more.
Also starring Ray Winstone and Ashley Jensen, The Legend of Barney Thomson is a comedy about a man whose life changes suddenly from desperate mediocrity to something sinister and far more interesting.
The truth is, I’m liking it already because it reminds me of The Voices (2014).
