FAIR PLAY (2023): New Trailer Starring Phoebe Dynevor, Alden Ehrenreich, Eddie Marsan…

A cutthroat hedge fund is the setting of new Netflix drama/mystery/thriller Fair Play, and what’s at stake is plenty, including a young couple’s engagement. 

From writer/director Chloe Domont; Fair Play stars Alden Ehrenreich, Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton (2020) and Eddie Marsan.

The part-mystery categorisation has me wondering about the games at play here, and precisely who is playing them. I’m looking forward to the performances and how it all unravels.

Also, considering the age of the couple in question, it’s unlikely they’ll communicate as well as they ideally need to, especially for a relationship predicament as tricky as this one.

Lastly, how good does this look as an example for HR departments to share with staff to deter inter-office relationships? I say, very good indeed.

Directed by Alexandre Moors; Jennifer Aniston, Tye Sheridan, Alden Ehrenreich and Toni Collette star.

What an exciting cast. I can’t wait to find out what the deep dark secret is.

Perhaps, The Yellow Birds will join The Hurt Locker (2018) as one of my favourite war movies.

Solo – A Star Wars Story (2018), Alden Ehrenreich

Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson are the stars of Solo – A Star Wars Story, another instalment of the many more star wars movies to follow.

Directed by Ron Howard, the story is set years before the Rebellion when, in the midst of an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian.

I’m intrigued by Solo’s implied rebel ways, but that’s about it, really. I’m still no closer to watching my first Star Wars movie. One day, it’s possible that someone, somewhere, will convince me to see several. It just hasn’t happened yet.

Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany and Warwick Davis also star.

Rules Don’t Apply (2016), Lily Collins, Annette Bening

Set in Hollywood in 1958, Rules Don’t Apply focuses on the relationship between three key characters working in Hollywood. Namely, an aspiring actress, her driver and the eccentric billionaire that employs them. 

Alden Ehrenreich, Lilly Collins and Warren Beatty play the main roles. Beatty is also the film’s writer/director.

After finding that I didn’t quite enjoy the last movie I saw about Hollywood in the 1950s (Hail, Caesar! (2015), as much as I hoped I would, I’m not sure how this is going to turn out. Though, Annette Bening is one of my favourite actresses, thanks to American Beauty (1999). So, I guess we’ll see.

Annette Bening, Alec Baldwin and Chace Crawford also feature.
