THE ROSES (2025): New Trailer Starring Olivia Colman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate McKinnon, Andy Samberg, Ncuti Gatwa…

Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate McKinnon, Olivia Colman and Andy Samberg are the stars of The Roses.

This new Jay Roach-directed comedy/drama follows a couple whose deceptively picture-perfect relationship finally comes crashing down, thanks to festering resentments and competition.

Yeah! I like relationship stories like this one. The premise is different, but this trailer gives the same vibes as one of my favourites. Namely, It’s Complicated (2009).

Bring on the amusing antics, for Colman and Cumberbatch are a great comedy pairing. As are Samberg and Mckinnon.

Will you be watching this one too?

Ncuti Gatwa,, Jamie Demetriou, Sunita Mani, Zoë Chao, Hala Finley, Belinda Bromilow, Akie Kotabe, Caroline Partridge and Simon Strutt also star.

The Roses Release Dates: August 29th, 2025 (US); September 5th, 2025 (UK)…

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA: TRANSFORMANIA (2021): New Trailer From Selina Gomez, Kathryn Hahn, Fran Drescher, Andy Samberg…

Hotel Transylvania - Transformania (2021), Sony Pictures Entertainment
Hotel Transylvania – Transformania (2021), Sony Pictures Entertainment

Hotel Transylvania – Transformania is the last chapter in the four-part animated movie series. This time, the monster family appears as you’ve never seen before and it looks like plenty of fun.

Directed by Derek Drymon and Jennifer Kluska; key cast includes Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kathryn Hahn and Fran Drescher.

I wasn’t aware until this trailer that Adam Sandler is no longer voicing Dracula. Hopefully, I won’t miss his voice work too much.

I’m most looking forward to the fun animation but I’ll gladly take the humour too.

Steve Buscemi, Keegan-Michael Key, David Spade, Molly Shannon, Jim Gaffigan, Brian Hull, Brad Abrell and Asher Blinkoff also star.

Hotel Transylvania – Transformania Release Dates: July 23rd, 2021 (US & UK)…

PALM SPRINGS (2020): The Thing I Liked…

Palm Springs (2020), Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, Hulu
Palm Springs (2020), Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, Hulu

Palm Springs is a comedy and a romance film with the added twist of an infinite time loop to complicate things. I’m sure the purpose of this particular storytelling trope was to make things more interesting. Sadly, for me, I couldn’t be more tired of the infinite time loop concept.

Yes, Palm Springs does bring a certain twist to the concept, but the whole experience just proved tedious rather than refreshing.

Groundhog Day (1993), the first infinite time loop movie I recall watching did a good job of it. And every movie that it has since inspired, that I’ve seen has turned out to be a disappointment. Especially since I understand the concept almost too well, which then means I feel robbed; both of the element of surprise and the movie I’d hoped to be watching.

There’s no denying that Palm Springs is well-acted. Plus, I did laugh a few times. Though just not enough to make me forget how tedious I find infinite time loop movies.

My last three complaints about director Max Barbakow’s film include the fact that I didn’t fully buy into the romance. I also found the frantic nature of things exhausting, and finally, that cheesy – dare I say cringe ‘sister speech’ at the wedding towards the end may have caused me to say ‘Ugh! CHEESE! I have a dairy issue!’

Infinite time loop movie fans should give Palm Springs a chance, along with others who are simply curious. Who knows, you, like many others, may not find it as disappointing as I did.

STORKS (2016): Funny, Cute Adventure…

Storks (2016), Andy Samberg (Voice of Junior) Katie Crown (Voice of Tulip)
Storks (2016), Andy Samberg (Voice of Junior) Katie Crown (Voice of Tulip)

Storks is an action / adventure / comedy set in a time when storks deliver packages instead of babies; but then a brand new baby order appears and a stork must what? ‘Always deliver,’ of course.

Starring Andy Samberg, Kelsey Grammer, Ty Burrell, Jennifer Aniston and Katie Crown, Storks is definitely fun and funny. Though it’s not my favourite of the animated films I’ve seen in 2016, I did enjoy the cuteness of all the babies, the nature of Hunter’s relationship with the little birds, the very unique skills of the wolf pack and the general adorableness of Nate Gardner.

There’s also that beautiful song at the end, ‘Fire and the Flood’ by Vance Joy; a singer who just happens to look like a smaller version of comedy actor, Josh Gad.

In case like myself you rather like the idea of storks delivering babies instead of the usual pain fest that’s actual labour, there’s a slight chance that you may find yourself feeling a little blue by the end of this movie, but luckily not for too long.

Watch Storks for all the good things mentioned above. Lastly, had it not been for the end credits, there’s no way I’d have guessed that Junior is voiced by Andy Samberg, such is his great vocal range.

POPSTAR – NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING (2016): The Thing I Liked…

Popstar - Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Andy Samberg
Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Andy Samberg

Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping stars Andy Samberg, and it’s a comedy I did not hate. Nevertheless, I was definitely hoping to laugh at least twice as much as I actually did.

Unfortunately, instead of laughing, my reaction to many of the jokes was a slight smile. The pace of the movie certainly didn’t exactly help.

If I were forced to pick a favourite moment in the film, nothing really comes to mind except everything I saw in the trailer. The trailer was great, whereas the  movie is at best, just ok.

Watch it, especially if you’re a big Samberg and or The Lonely Island fan.
