New nine-part drama/sci-fi/thriller, Dark Matter from Apple TV+ has Joel Egerton starring as Jason Dessan, a man abducted into an alternate version of his life.

Based on the novel by Blake Crouch and additional key cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga and Oakes Fegley; Jason must find a way back before it’s too late.

I’ve been hearing about how Netflix is great at documentaries and that Apple’s thing is good sci-fi. I haven’t watched much sci-fi on Apple TV+, particularly because it isn’t my favourite genre. At least not pure sci-fi anyway. However, this trailer sure has me intrigued, plus it’s sci-fi/drama/thriller, which helps.

Based on this engaging trailer edit, I’m ready to find out if Egerton’s character makes it back home to his loving family, as near impossible as it seems right now.

Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, Amanda Brugel, Marquita Brooks, Tiff Abreu, Bassam Abdelfattah, Jimmy Styx, Missy Fierro, Jenne Kang and Patricia Mario also star.

New action/drama/sci-fi Snowpiercer is a new Netflix series set over seven years, after the world has become a frozen wasteland, and the remnants of humanity occupy a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe.

Created by Graeme Manson; Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs and Mickey Sumner are among the key cast.

The premise is interesting, and now, also a tad closer to reality than it might have been about six months ago. I’ll be watching for all the madness and for the Diggs/Connelly dynamic.

Having not yet watched the 2013 movie of the same name starring Chris Evans, it’s probably best I do that before seeing this. Even more so since it was directed by Bong Joon Ho of Parasite (2019).

Sheila Vand, Lena Hall, Alison Wright, Iddo Goldberg, Aaron Glenane, Karin Konoval, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto and Emma Oliver also star.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez, co produced by James Cameron and starring Christoph Waltz, Rosa Salazar, Jennifer Connelly and Eiza González, Alita – Battle Angel is an action-packed story. One set several centuries in the future and about hope, love plus empowerment.

The protagonist played by Salazar is a young woman on a journey to discover the truth of who she is and change the world.

Nice trailer. How absolutely beautiful was that moment when Ed Skrein’s character got smashed? I just can’t wait to see all the visual effects come together.

I’m going to confess that as soon as I saw James Cameron’s name, I couldn’t help but think ‘So this is why the next Avatar movie is delayed?’ I’m quite sure that’s nonsense, but you understand.

Another thought that crossed my mind is, ‘Why do Alita’s eyes have to be so large?’ Perhaps it’s explained in the manga series, it’s based on, that I’ve never read. Perhaps.

Michelle Rodriguez, Jackie Earle Haley, Ed Skrein and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. also star.

Only The Brave is based on the true story of the elite crew of firemen known as the Granite Mountain Hotshots from Prescott, Arizona.

In June 2013, the men battled a wildfire in Yarnell, AZ that claimed the lives of 19 of their members. Directed by Joseph Kosinski; Josh Brolin, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller and Taylor Kitsch star.

The cast is reliable, the story is interesting and that footage of a bear running while on fire is spectacular.

My fingers are crossed that there’ll be more very impressive fire special effects in the finished movie.

Based on the novel by Philip Roth; Ewan McGregor’s new movie, American Pastoral is set in postwar America and centres around a man whose previously perfect seeming life is abruptly changed when his daughter’s new political affiliations come to light.

Also starring Jennifer Connelly, Uzo Aduba and Dakota Fanning, I know I’m excited  because I’m already imagining some of the possible dramatic exchanges likely to take place.

This is also Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut, therefore, it’s reason enough for this movie fan to tune in. Especially since, even though I’m not loving this particular remix of Tears For Fears’ popular song ‘Mad World,’ the trailer isn’t bad.
