It’s time for the next trailer instalment for fantasy/sci-fi/adventure/comedy, Mickey 17.

Starring Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo and Steven Yeun, Mickey 17 is written/directed by Bong Joon Ho, the man behind my favourite film of the last 10 years, Parasite (2019).

I may have mentioned it in my response to the Mickey 17 teaser trailer released months ago, but, I’m into this for all the obvious reasons, but certainly also to see all the shots that show us the wonderfully humorous appearance of Mark Ruffalo’s character.

I don’t think I even need to ask if you’ll watch this one. So, instead, I ask: When are you buying your ticket?

Toni Collette, Angus Imrie, Steve Park, Thomas Turgoose, Afolabi Alli, Patsy Ferran, Chelsea Li, Angus Imrie and Daniel Henshall also star.

Mickey 17 Release Dates: March 7th, 2025 (US & UK)…

Eight years have passed since Christian Bale finished his stint as Batman, the caped crusader. It’s been decided that the time has come for another reimagining.

Directed by Matt Reeves The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell…

I didn’t feel very much the first time I saw this trailer but it’s grown on me. Now I love the music, appreciate the red title artwork towards the end and I look forward to Pattinson doing a good job.

It definitely should be interesting and not just because Bruce Wayne appears to be into the goth look. I say this while knowing very little about goths by the way. So any actual goths, kindly forgive me.

Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard, John Turturro, Con O’Neill, Max Carver, Charlie Carver, Alex Ferns, Amy Clare Beales, Jimmy Star and Mark Killeen also star.

The Batman Release Dates: March 4th, 2022 (US)…

Directed and co-written by  Antonio Campos, The Devil All The Time is a new drama/thriller starring Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Sebastian Stan and Bill Skarsgård.

Set in the 1960s after World War II, in Southern Ohio, the story is set in a time when compelling, bizarre, and mentally disturbed people suffer from the war’s psychological damages.

I’m in for the incredibly creepy character played by Pattinson, the interesting premise and because this trailer looks very promising indeed.

Harry Melling, Haley Bennett, Riley Keogh, Eliza Scanlen, Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke, Douglas Hodge, and Abby Glover also star.

The Devil All The Time Release Dates: September 16th, 2020 (US & UK)…

TENET (2020): New Trailer From Christopher Nolan, Starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Himesh Pattel…

Christopher Nolan’s new sci-fi/action/drama Tenet has a brand new trailer, and of course it’s good!

Starring Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, Himesh Patel and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the subject is international espionage, time travel/inversion, and evolution.

As I’ve come to expect with Nolan trailers, this too is well edited and builds up in a great way.

There’s almost no watching this trailer without 2010’s Inception coming to mind. I just hope that I can keep up with all the ‘time travel science’ because, let’s just say that it took me several listens before I understood what Hulk was saying in Avengers – Endgame (2019) when he explained how time travel supposedly works:

Changing the past doesn’t change the future. If you travel to the past, that past becomes your future and your former present becomes your past, which can’t now be changed by your new future.

In all honesty, I may have misspoken about finally understanding the above explanation. Nevertheless, I do plan to make sense of it soon, with regular attempts.

Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Clémence Poésy, Yuri Kolokolnikov, Himesh Patel, Martin Donovan, Carina Velva, Dimple Kapadia and Andrew Howard also star.

Tenet Release Dates: August 26th, 2020 (UK); September 3rd, 2020 (US)…

THE LIGHTHOUSE (2019): The Things I Liked…

The Lighthouse (2019), Robert Pattinson, A24
The Lighthouse (2019), Robert Pattinson, A24

The Lighthouse, a fantasy/drama/horror about two lighthouse keepers struggling to maintain their sanity while living on a remote, mysterious New England island, is a movie that noticeably builds and builds. Especially where the tension between its two characters is concerned. The Lighthouse also becomes increasingly intriguing, fantastical, and has a pervasive sense of dread as it unfolds, resulting in an ending that makes sense, but one that also leaves me with some questions.

I can’t deny that overall, writer/director Robert Eggers’s 1890s-set film is a good one. I enjoyed the cinematography, some of the dialogue and definitely the great performances by Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. In terms of how I feel about Eggers’s movie in its entirety, for reasons that include the film’s genre (fantasy, especially) and the general loudness based on the sounds and noises the two men had to endure; plus the inclusion of much of the less than sanitary and unsavoury aspects of being a lighthouse keeper in the 1800s, I can’t say that I loved The Lighthouse.

Should you find yourself quite curious, give it a chance because it’s unlike most. It also has that stage play quality, likely due to the dialogue style and single setting. Who knows, you may just find yourself far more enthused by the whole experience than I was.

I know for sure that during the movie and when it was over, I desperately wanted to believe that the job and experience of being a lighthouse keeper these days is quite different, and at the very least, far more sanitary.

Happy Film Loving,
