Written/directed by and starring Julie Delpy, My Zoe is a new drama about a divorced mother who’s trying to protect her daughter following an unexpected tragedy.

Gemma Arterton, Daniel Brühl, and Richard Armitage are among the key cast.

Cloning appears to be the subject, so I’m definitely in. Especially as I often wonder whether cloning will become far more popular in our lifetime. And since there’s really no knowing for sure, thank goodness that non-scientists like many of us get to explore the subject matter through film.

Lindsay Duncan, Jördis Triebel, Nina Kunzendorf, Tijan Marei, Nicolette Krebitz, Carolina Vera and Vladimir Burlakov also star.

My Zoe Release Dates: October 5th, 2020 (UK)…

AGGIE (2020): New Trailer For documentary About Art Collector And Philanthropist Agnes Gund…

Aggie (2020), Agnes Gund, Strand Releasing
Aggie (2020), Agnes Gund, Strand Releasing

Directed by Catherine Gund, daughter of the subject, Aggie is a new documentary about art collector Agnes Gund, who sold Roy Lichtenstein’s painting ‘Masterpiece’ for $165 million in 2017. A huge sum that’s dedicated to starting the Art for Justice Fund to end mass incarceration. In this way, Gund’s film offers an exploration of the nexus of art, race and justice.

Aggie understands that art makes it possible for us to have empathy, and that without empathy, there is no justice.’

Empathy really is one of the biggest takeaways from movies, which makes sense since ‘film is the perfect amalgamation of all the arts’.

I’m watching Aggie to learn more about and spend time with Agnes Gund, clearly an extraordinary human.

FREAKY (2020): New Trailer Starring Kathryn Newton, Vince Vaughn, Alan Ruck, Celeste O’Connor…

In new comedy/horror/thriller Freaky, Kathryn Newton plays Millie, a young girl in high school who, after swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer; she discovers that she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.

Directed by Christopher Landon; Vince Vaughn, Celeste O’Connor, and Alan Ruck are among the key cast.

This looks like promising, silly fun. Another thing that stands out is how much fun Newton must have had playing Millie. Particularly once she turned killer.

I’m in for the two Newton roles and the Halloween silliness. Who can even believe that Halloween is so close already?

Uriah Shelton, Katie Finneran, Kelly Lamor Wilson, Dana Drori, Misha Osherovich, Mitchell Hoog, Melissa Collazo and Dustin Lewis also star.

Freaky Release Dates: November 13th, 2020 (US)…

I’M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS (2020): The Thing I Liked…

I’m Thinking of Ending Things (2020), Jessie Buckley, Netflix

There are some movies I’ll start watching, realise they’re terrible and quit within ten or fifteen minutes. Writer/director Charlie Kaufman’s latest drama/thriller, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, is not that kind of movie. One might say it’s worse because I’d hoped to like it far more than I did.

I expected more because I enjoyed Anomalisa (2015), and had hoped that I’m Thinking of Ending Things would be similarly pleasing and thought-provoking. It may well be thought-provoking for some, but post-viewing, it did not inspire me to think anything significant, except ‘what a waste of two hours,’ particularly since the peculiar happenings that inspired me to watch the movie in the first place never get explained.

Kaufman’s story of a young woman who comes to question everything she thought she knew about her new boyfriend, upon arriving at his parent’s secluded farm is a film that may have fans raving on about the way it explores loneliness, death, sanity and so on. Yet, I for one didn’t want to work as hard and have as much patience as I’m Thinking of Ending Things requires of its audience.

By the third or fourth time that Jessie Buckley’s character says the words ‘I’m thinking of ending things‘, the film had lost me, and I wanted to stop watching; yet I needed to see how the story would end.

Buckley, Toni Colette, David Thewlis and Jessie Plemons all perform brilliantly. Still, none of it proved enough for me. Regardless of the ‘stylish’ way the story is edited and told; the scares and other creative choices, it just didn’t result in a satisfying experience for me. Instead it felt incomplete.

I’m sure that very serious fans of Kaufman will likely enjoy this the most. For everyone else, sure, give it a chance if you’re SUPER curious.

LONG WAY UP (2020): New Trailer From Ewan McGregor, Charley Boorman…

Long Way Up (2020), Ewan McGregor, Charlie Boorman, Apple TV+
Long Way Up (2020), Ewan McGregor, Charlie Boorman, Apple TV+

Long Way Up is a new Apple TV+ Series that follows best friends Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman as they travel 13,000 miles through Central and South America, on their electric Harley-Davidsons

I’m in, mainly for the tour of South America and to witness the kindness of the locals.

It’s intriguing that at the time of writing, on IMDb, this series has been classified as Reality TV. I can understand why, a little, since it doesn’t seem to be a documentary.

Nevertheless, my fingers are crossed that it isn’t edited in the style of reality TV shows. The way there’s only ever a morsel of new information in each episode. Information that will be teased a million times within the episode, before you actually see what happens.

Long Way Up Release Dates: September 18th, 2020 (US)/Apple TV +
