Danger is the key word for writer/director Rian Johnson’s latest Knives Out instalment, Wake Up Dead Man – A Knives Out Mystery.

Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc to solve the latest case, and new cast members include Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Josh O’Connor, Mila Kunis and Josh Brolin.

What a wonderful mix of talented actors. I’m hoping to be surprised by who the guilty party is. Though this trailer does seem to suggest that O’Connor’s character is not so innocent.

Are you also looking forward to Craig’s Benoit Blanc working it all out?

Daryl McCormack, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Thomas Haden Church, Kerry Frances and Annie Hamilton also star.

The Woman In Cabin 10 (2025), Keira Knightly, Netflix

Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce and Hannah Waddingham’s latest is a drama/mystery/thriller called The Woman In Cabin 10.

Directed by Simone Stone, Knightley plays a travel writer who comes across a gruesome secret while aboard a luxury cruise ship.

It’s good to see Guy Pearce playing what looks like a villain who doesn’t immediately read as terrifying. After all, I’m still recovering from his dark turn in Lawless (2012).

I also like this busy bee journalist character for Knightley. Will she survive? One wonders. Maybe it will be like the end of the White Lotus Season 2 (2021 – ) The type that leaves plenty to think about and possibly be mad about.

John Macmillan, Tyler Valerie, Kaya Scodelario, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Daniel Ings, David Morrissey, Art Malik, David Ajala, Pippa Bennett-Warner and Paul Kaye also star.

Anniversary (20205), Dylan O’Brien, Phoebe Dynevor, Lionsgate Movies

Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Dylan O’Brien, and Phoebe Dynevor are the stars of Anniversary, a Jan Komasa-directed thriller that follows a very close-knit family torn apart following ‘the change.’

I’m intrigued by the Dynevor, O’Brien and Lane dynamic. And, if ‘the change’ is what I think it is, it’s a smart move by the trailer editors, not explicitly stating anything.

In any case, I suspect I’ll enjoy Dynevor playing an American.

In drama/mystery/thriller, Ballad of a Small Player, Colin Farrell is a high-stakes gambler who may have just met a person with the key to what he’s been looking for.

From director Edward Berger, Fala Chen and Tilda Swinton are among the key cast.

This looks a lot like what I suspect is the reason my parents never allowed my siblings and I to play card games.

I’m excited about how colour-rich this is, and Farrell is clearly bringing his A++ game. I just hope the story ends well for his character.

Will you be tuning in for all that glorious colour?

After the Hunt has Julia Roberts playing a college professor who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads, after her star student accuses a colleague of assault.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, additional key cast includes Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield and Chloë Sevigny.

This cast is quite the pleasant surprise. I look forward to Roberts, Edebiri and Garfield playing seemingly unlikable characters.

Also, this already appears to be quite well-written, which is great. I mean, it should be fun to watch a Gen X, Gen Z and a Millennial in intellectual battle, no?
