THE ODYSSEY (2026): New Trailer From Christopher Nolan, Starring Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Jon Bernthal…

Christopher Nolan’s latest epic-looking movie, The Odyssey, has a brand new trailer. And it’s based on Odysseus, the Greek King of Ithaca. Specifically, his journey to reunite with his wife Penelope after the Trojan War.

This fantasy/action/adventure/history film has a key cast that includes Jon Bernthal, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon and Benny Safdie.

I’m looking forward to this because it’s Nolan, Damon, Hathaway, Holland, and Bernthal. I also want to see what looks like a father/son love story. Plus, I’m curious about the part-fantasy categorisation. That said, I’m also apprehensive because Nolan’s last film, Oppenheimer (2023), ran for three very long hours, which felt beyond unacceptable to me.

The runtime for this one hasn’t been confirmed yet, and while I’d like to be optimistic that it won’t exceed two and a half hours, I just know that I’d be incredibly foolish to bet on it.

Is The Odyssey unskippable for you, too?

Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Logan Marshall-Green, Zendaya, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Ryan Hurst, Himesh Patel and Elyes Gabel also star.

The Odyssey. Release Dates: July 17th, 2026 (US & UK)…

MOTHER MARY (2026): New Trailer From Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer and FKA twigs …

From writer/director David Lowery, Mother Mary is a new drama/music film about an iconic pop star who returns to her estranged costume designer. Inevitably, long-buried wounds resurface.

Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer and FKA twigs are among the key cast.

The trailer explicitly stating that ‘this is not a ghost story’ only makes me think that’s exactly what it is. Especially bearing in mind the visuals. I’m both curious and scared to see it. However, I’m too invested in its stars not to at least try to watch this.

Considering how emotionally taxing Hathaway’s role appears to be, I hope this movie turns out great, so it all feels extra worth it for her.

Will you be making time for this one?

Alba Baptista, Kaia Gerber, Parinas Esmailsadeh, Julia Stolba, Dani Vitale, Laura Meakin, Sian Clifford, Jessica Brown Findlay and Atheena Frizzell also star.

MOTHER’S INSTINCT (2024): New Trailer Starring Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Josh Charles, Anders Danielsen Lie…

Jessica Chastain, Josh Charles, Anne Hathaway and Anders Danielsen Lie are the stars of new drama/thriller Mother’s Instinct.

Directed by Benoît Delhomme, at the centre of the story is a tragic accident that leads to guilt, suspicion and paranoia between two women who were once the best of friends.

Based on the title alone, I’m going to guess that Chastain’s character is right. I think that Hathatway’s Celine is the grief-stricken mother who’s lost her mind.

I say all this of course, as someone who has never watched the French film (Derrière la haine (2018) by Barbara Abel, on which both films are based. I’m excited to watch two wonderful actors continually raise each other’s game with every word and look they utter. Not that either of their games needed raising, mind you.

Are you looking forward to a promising psychological thriller, one of a few among the many blockbusters due to come our way this year?

Caroline Lagerfelt, Alexander Blaise, Keeley Miller, Steve Routman, Lauren Yaffe and Baylen D. Bielitz also star.

LOCKED DOWN (2021): The Things I Liked…

Locked Down (2021), Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anne Hathaway, Warner Brothers
Locked Down (2021), Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anne Hathaway, Warner Brothers

Locked Down has some memorable moments. Yet, overall, director Doug Limans romance/comedy about a couple’s attempt at a high-risk, high-stakes jewellery heist during the Coronavirus pandemic isn’t great.

Starring Anne Hathaway, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ben Kingsley, the most memorable scenes for me feature Kingsley and Ben Stiller. There’s also the scene that has my favourite line of dialogue in the whole movie: ‘Live wild or die, Linda.’ My love of this line has more to do with Ejiofor’s delivery of it, more than anything else.

As for what’s seriously wrong with Locked Down, it doesn’t help that I found the chemistry between Hathaway and Ejiofor lacking. This lack fed into their relationship feeling underdeveloped. It’s then no surprise that I didn’t buy the evolution of the characters, including the decisions they made.

To put it another way, both the film’s central relationship and the story needed more writing time. Because it had an overall silly and unbelievable quality, which I doubt was intentional. The issue isn’t the performances, but near enough all else, especially the story.

I can understand that Locked Down exists in part because of a desire to take advantage of a locked-down London. It’s therefore unfortunate that the thoughts running through my mind while watching the movie included:

I wonder if the actors regret saying yes to this script?

This kind of feels like a literal dream, but a bad one. A bad script for an actual dream that could have been very exciting.

How on earth did Harrods allow themselves to be used for this? That is assuming the Harrods scenes were shot in the famous luxury department store.

Should you watch this movie? I mean, if you’re extraordinarily curious, do. Otherwise, I say wait for a quality lockdown film. One that’s taking its sweet time to be developed and developed right.

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Locked Down (2021).

Locked Down is the latest comedy/romance starring Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

From director Doug Liman, the story is about a couple’s attempt at a high-risk, high-stakes jewellery heist at London’s Harrod’s department store.

Additional key cast includes Mindy Kaling, Ben Kingsley, Lucy Boynton, Jazmyn Simon and Stephen Merchant.

This looks like the first high-profile film about life during the pandemic. I’m watching to see aspects of my life reflected at me. Especially since it’s set in London, England. I also just want to see how well this turns out. You know, considering the constraints of shooting while a pandemic is still going on.

I know for sure that I already love Ejiofor’s line at 0:45 seconds into this trailer. It’s just so delightfully British, isn’t it?

Dulé Hill, Mark Gatiss, Bobby Schofield and Shereen Gray also star.

Locked Down Release Dates: January 14th, 2021 (US), HBO Max; March 5th, 2021 (UK)…
