DADDY’S HOME 2 (2017): New Trailer From Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Mel Gibson, John Lithgow, John Cena…

The first Daddy’s Home (2015) movie starring Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Linda Cardelilni featured a ‘cool biological dad versus new and not so cool stepdad’ dynamic between Ferrell and Wahlberg.

For the Sean Anders-directed sequel, the same dynamic remains, except this time, Ferrell and Wahlberg’s characters are the best of friends, but their dads, played by Mel Gibson and John Lithgow, are certainly not that.

The original film was okay and featured some memorable scenes. I’ll be tuning in this time for much of the same and hopefully more. I already love that kiss between Lithgow and Ferrell’s characters.

TRANSFORMERS – THE LAST KNIGHT (2017): New Trailer From Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins…

The trailer for the Michael Bay-directed fifth Transformers movie, Transformers – The Last Knight starring Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins and Stanley Tucci is finally here.

I loved the first Tranformers film; the one that starred Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. The second instalment was so disappointing that I haven’t yet been able return to the franchise.

Maybe I’ll  watch this because of the special effects and Anthony Hopkins – but really, I think this may be a movie most ideal for those who love big fiery explosions more than the average amount – which of course is absolutely fine.

Transformers  – The Last Knight Release Dates: June 23rd, 2017 (US & UK)…

DADDY’S HOME (2015): The Thing I liked…

Daddy's Home (2015), Mark Wahlberg

Stepdad/biological dad comedy, Daddy’s Home stars Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, a pair who have shown great onscreen chemistry in the past. For example, 2010’s The Other Guys.

Directed by Sean Anders, Daddy’s Home won’t ask too much of you except that you sit down, relax, and accept a few laughs. Generally speaking, you’ll be ok as long as you don’t mind the absence of surprises, plot-wise.

The best thing about the movie, for me is the onscreen chemistry and verbal sparring between the two lead actors. If you love Farrell and or Wahlberg, you’ll probably watch the movie regardless. So, to that I say, enjoy! I’m excited for you about Daddy’s Home 2, which is due in November 2017.

DEEPWATER HORIZON (2016): New Trailer Starring Mark Wahlberg, Dylan O’Brien, Kate Hudson…

Deepwater Horizon is the latest from Mark Wahlberg, the story about the explosion of the drilling rig that caused the worst oil spill in US history.

Teaser trailer

I like what they’ve done concept-wise with this teaser trailer. Yet, I don’t currently find myself particularly excited about the movie, at least not yet. Perhaps the release of the non-teaser will change that – and it has.

No doubt the ending will be heroic. I’m really hoping that Gina Rodriguez’s character doesn’t die.

John Malkovich, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell and Dylan O’Brien also star.

Deepwater Horizon Release Dates: September 30th, 2016 (US & UK); September 29th, 2016 (GER); October 12th, 2016 (FR)…

MOJAVE (2015): There’s Something I Liked…

Mojave (2015), Garrett Hedlund
Mojave (2015), Garrett Hedlund

My favourite thing about Mojave is the bass in Garret Hedlund’s voice. The  general story had potential, but in the end it didn’t turn out as well as it could have. My main issue is with the plausibility of aspects of the story and the general overuse of the word ‘brother.’

The only reason I don’t completely regret watching Mojave is Garrett Hedlund. Can someone please cast him to star in a well scripted and executed movie? I ask because I believe in his acting abilities, not just so I can enjoy listening to him speak.

As for Oscar Isaac, I can’t say I loved his performance here. But, he was good in Ex Machina (2015). So there’s that.

Watch Mojave if you really, really must. The only other reason I can think of is if you want to find out just how much truth is in everything I’ve said about Garrett Hedlund. Or, maybe you want to count how many times the word ‘brother’ is said. The answer is way more than you’d ever want to hear.

Director William Monahan is also responsible for the unfortunate script and Mark Wahlberg makes an appearance.
