TRAP (2024): An Unexpected Roller Coaster Of Emotions While Watching The New M. Night Shyamalan Trailer, Starring Josh Hartnett, Hayley Mills…

The latest crime/horror/mystery starring Josh Hartnett and Hayley Mills is a movie with a possibly very promising trailer.

I saw this trailer within 10 minutes of its release several days ago. At first, I wasn’t sure where it was going, but then I started to get excited because it was looking pleasingly different; which is always welcome. Particularly for myself and others who have seen plenty of movies and a plethora of premise types many times before.

Sadly, however, something extremely disappointing happened at exactly two minutes and fifteen seconds into the trailer; specifically for me, the revelation of who the director is.

I would truly love nothing more than to be wrong about the extent to which I’m likely to enjoy this movie, but I’ve been disappointed too many times. As such, I’ll probably wait to see what the first reviews say before investing time.

What are your thoughts about M. Night Shyamalan’s latest? Perhaps you’re more hopeful than I am after watching the above trailer.

Hayley Mills, Marnie McPhail, Vanessa Smythe, Ariel Donoghue, Malik Jubal, Jonathan Langdon and Peter D’Souza also star.

Trap Release Dates: August 9th, 2024 (UK)…

VALLEY OF THE GODS (2019): New Trailer From John Malkovich, Josh Hartnett, Bérénice Marlohe…

Starring Josh Hartnett, John Malkovich and Bérénice Merlohe; Valley of the Gods is a new drama that contrasts abundance and poverty through three separate storylines.

Written/directed by Lech Majewski; additional key cast includes John Rhys-Davies, Keir Dullea and Tokala Black Elk.

Hopefully this will be a good one story-wise but another key reason I’m interested is the visuals, set design and locations. I think I definitely spotted Rome’s magnificent Trevi Fountain.

I’m also happy to see one of my favourite Bond girls, Bérénice Merlohe (Skyfall (2012)) in this trailer. Fingers crossed it’s a great story. However,

Saginaw Grant, Joseph Runningfox, Steven Skyler, John A. Lorenz, and Marek Probosz also star.

Valley of The Gods Release Dates: August 11th, 2020 (US)…

Josh Hartnett, Bruce Dern, Chandler Riggs and Margarita Levieva are the stars of Inherit The Viper, a new crime/thriller about three opioid dealer siblings trying not to get caught.

Directed by  Anthony Jerjen, and set in Appalachia, USA, additional key cast includes Dash Mihok, Brad William Henke and Valorie Curry.

I’m intrigued by the premise but I’m most interested because I haven’t seen Hartnett in a movie since Oh, Lucy! (2017) which was quite fun.

Tara Buck, Blaine Kern III, Jared Bankens, Gabriel ‘G-Rod’ Rodriguez, Garrett Kruithof, Ron Goleman and Monique Grant also star.

Inherit The Viper Release Dates: January 10th, 2020 (US)…

OH, LUCY (2017): The Things I Liked…

Oh Lucy! (2017), Josh Hartnett, Shinobu Terajima

Josh Hartnett, Shinobu Terajima and Kaho Minami are the stars of Oh, Lucy!, a comedy/drama set in Tokyo and LA.  One that is as fun and quirky as the trailer suggested.

Directed by Atsuko Hirayanagi, Oh, Lucy! tells the story of a lonely Japanese woman who discovers her alter ego Lucy in an English class and ends up making some questionable decisions soon after.

Hirayanagi’s film is amusing, smile inducing and surprising. I say ‘surprising’ because Oh, Lucy! is more unpredictable than I expected, but in a good way, where story is concerned. I enjoyed all the performances, especially the sibling dynamic between Terajima and Minami’s characters.

Even though Lucy gets involved in some highly questionable shenanigans, it’s the simultaneously sad and amusing dynamic in the sibling relationship that stands out most in a good way.

Watch it for a little something quirky and surprising. Considering the way things unfold, you’ll no doubt find out as the film plays, precisely why the title ‘Oh, Lucy!’ is so very fitting.

The kooky, that’s what I’m here for. There’s also the fact that I haven’t seen a Josh Hartnett movie in while so I’m curious to learn just how he’s changed.

Megan Mullally and Nick Gracer also star.
