SINNERS (2025): The Things I Liked…

It’s only May, but Sinners, the Ryan Coogler-directed drama/horror/thriller, the one that’s been performing brilliantly at the box office, is my favourite movie of 2025.

There’s a chance it won’t stay my favourite come  December. Nevertheless, you may be impressed to learn that I, your friendly, usually horror-avoidant film fanatic, sat through the entire movie, after which I had almost only good things to say about the experience.

The cinema was packed, and yes, I may have been the only person who screamed on at least four specific occasions, but, instead of nightmares, the things that have stayed with me post-viewing are:

Sinners (2025), Hailee Steinfeld, Warner Bros. Pictures
Sinners (2025), Hailee Steinfeld, Warner Bros. Pictures
  • How visually and thematically beautiful Coogler’s film is.
  • How worthwhile, super-well executed, memorable and rousing the two main musical moments are.
  • Perhaps, most importantly, in addition to being an entertaining and well-written drama/horror/thriller, Sinners cleverly reflects back to many black Americans, in particular, both ancestrally and otherwise, so much of their experience. It does this so well that I imagine it’s impossible not to feel seen.
  • Lastly, I must experience Sinners again on the big screen before it’s gone. This particular thought keeps replaying.

The entire Sinners cast performed well. However, standouts for me include Michael B. Jordan, of course. I love how easy he made it for viewers to distinguish between the twins without heavy reliance on costume or props. There’s also Jack O’Connell, an actor I’ve been rooting for ever since I saw his brilliant work in Starred Up (2023).

Watch Sinners if you’re curious and have the temperament. I may have been impatient for things to get going at the start, but I have zero regrets about screaming my way through my first horror film since Midsommar (2019).

Watch it and delight, probably.

A new teaser trailer for Ryan Coogler’s new drama/horror/thriller starring Michael B. Jordan, Jack O’Connell, Hailee Steinfeld and Wunmi Mosaku is here.

There’s a longer trailer than this one released today. It reveals more than you’ll likely want to see. As such, I recommend sticking with this second teaser. That is unless you don’t mind early revelations. In which case, here you go.

As nightmare-inducing as this surely will be, I’ve decided that unless someone who knows me super well advises that I don’t watch this, I will. Until such a time, a bright morning on or soon after April 18th, 2025, is when my date with Coogler’s scares and thrills is happening. Good luck to me and all who are scared but too intrigued. For everyone else, enjoy!

Li Jun Li, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Deneen Tyler, Christian Robinson, Theodus Crane, Gralen Bryant Banks, Delroy Lindo, Lola Kirke, Fabiola Reno, Yao, Russell C. Gibbs, Suzette Lange, Amanda Trumbull, and Ja’Quan Monroe-Henderson also star.

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler has a brand new movie starring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell and Wunmi Mosaku.

Sinners is the name and drama/horror/thriller is the categorisation.

Yes, I’m definitely already scared because of the part-horror categorisation. However, I do love an unexpected turn for a good actor like Jordan, and the intensity of this trailer edit definitely has my attention.

How intrigued are you?

Delroy Lindo, Lola Kirke, Li Jun Li, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Deneen Tyler, Christian Robinson, Theodus Crane, Gralen Bryant Banks, Fabiola Reno, Yao, Russell C. Gibbs, Suzette Lange, Amanda Trumbull, and Ja’Quan Monroe-Henderson also star.

BLACK PANTHER – WAKANDA FOREVER (2022): New Official Trailer From Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman…

If you thought that the teaser trailer for Black Panther – Wakanda Forever was moving, prepare yourself for the official trailer from director Ryan Coogler; starring Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman and Lupita Nyong’o,

Thanks to the stunning visuals, very promising battle sequences and absolutely perfect music, I have played this trailer countless times since its release.

I must also admit that each time I’ve played it, I was unable to resist beating my chest as per what happens at 1:40 seconds into the trailer. There will be very few if any dry eyes in the cinema when this comes out. Lastly, how special is the musical core/soundtrack going to be.

I’m guessing the answer is Letita Wright, the question is, who’s performance are you most excited to see? I’m certainly excited to see Wright deliver. However, I can’t wait to see queen Bassett; an actor I’ve adored ever since Whats Love Got to do With it 1993 and Waiting to Exhale (1995).

Winston Duke, Aleks Alifirenko Jr., Shalet Monique, Michaela Coel, Isaach De Bankolé and Tenoch Huerta, Dominique Thorne, and Gigi Bermingham also star.

Black Panther – Wakanda Forever Release Dates: 11th November 2022 (UK & US)…

Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright and Martin Freeman are back for director Ryan Coogler’s long awaited second Black Panther movie, Black Panther – Wakanda Forever.

Due to nervousness about sadness that could have resurfaced because of Chadwick Boseman’s absence from a cast he led so very well, I paused before hitting play on this promising trailer.

However, luckily for me and likely anyone who appreciated what Boseman did as Black Panther, I find myself comforted by the very well-chosen trailer song.

Now I can’t wait to see this movie, and the tribute it will undoubtedly be to the man who portrayed T’Challa to perfection.

Additional cast includes Tenoch Huerta, Dominique Thorne, Winston Duke, Michaela Coel, Aleks Alifirenko Jr., Shalet Monique, Isaach De Bankolé and Gigi Bermingham.
