For those in love with love, I think today’s trailer might be for you. Rio, I Love You is a series of short films set in the sunny Brazilian city, and brought to us by numerous talented directors including Paolo Sorrentino, John Turturro and Guillermo Arriaga.

You don’t have to be completely in love with love, or even in love with Rio, for Rio, I love You to intrigue you.

You just have to want to know more about the characters in this rather energising trailer. I for one, find myself very curious indeed. Thanks to the editing, music and snippets of the stories in love’s various stages and forms.

Rodrigo Santoro, Emily Mortimer, Vincent Cassel, Ryan Kwanten and John Turturro are some of the key cast.

The new Paul Greengrass-directed Jason Bourne movie trailer stars Matt Damon it looks good.

First Trailer

I never did get round to watching the version of the franchise that starred Jeremy Renner, The Bourne Legacy (2012). I mean, I am a Renner fan, but Damon just makes it look more exciting somehow. Perhaps it’s similar to how I know that Sean Connery makes a good James Bond, but Daniel Craig is my ultimate.

Jason Bourne Release Date(s): July 28th, 2016 (US & UK)…

CHILD 44 (2015): Tom Hardy Shines, As Expected…

Child 44 (2015), Tom Hardy
Child 44 (2015), Tom Hardy

Child 44 is a Stalin-era Soviet Union crime/thriller directed by Daniel Espinosa.

Based on Tom Rob Smith’s best-selling book of the same name; Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Noomi Rapace, Vincent Cassel and Joel Kinnaman are the stars.

My main motivation for watching the movie isn’t reading the book because  I haven’t, but the intriguing story. Particularly Hardy’s role as a determined investigator of a series of gruesome child murders. Murders that are taking place during a time when the powers that be refused to admit that murder is even a real thing.

I wanted Child 44 to be as thrilling as the trailer hinted. However, I did find myself wishing for a quicker pace, a shorter film, less distracting accents and an overall better/more thrilling execution.

All the lacking elements aside, Hardy’s performance is good and one of my favourite things about the movie. The other is the ending and the tension filled scene on the moving train.

You may be compelled to watch Child 44 because you’ve read the book and or you’re a Tom Hardy fan; one who wants to see how he was able to deliver a notable physical and emotional performance, in spite of the questionable Russian accents. To that I say, follow your curiosity. I did and I have no regrets, I just simply wish that the general result had been better.

Happy Film Loving,

PARTISAN (2015): New Dark And Promising Trailer Starring Vincent Cassel

Partisan (2015), Vincent Cassel
Partisan (2015), Vincent Cassel

Vincent Cassel’s new movie looks very interesting.

After the above, the key question for me is, will the young boy played by Jeremy Chabriel come to see that Gregory (Cassel) was indeed right? I’m thinking, yes. But certainly not about everything.

Partisan Release Dates: January 8th, 2016 (US)…

Happy Partisan 🙂

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Child 44 (2015).

The trailer for Child 44 is the reason I was yelping with uncontrollable joy today.

Deservedly, there’s been some talk about the authenticity of the Russian accents. As for me, I’m hoping for the best and I’m happy to watch the talented cast, including Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Vincent Cassel and Noomi Rapace do their thing.

I can’t wait to see this very interesting story unfold.

Happy Film Loving,
