FREE FIRE (2016): New Trailer From Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Cillian Murphy, Armie Hammer…

A shootout between two gangs in a deserted Boston warehouse, in 1978 is what happens in director Ben Wheatley’s new movie Free Fire.

Starring Cillian Murphy, Armie  Hammer, Brie Larson and Sharlto Copley, we hopefully have a rather stylish movie on the way – especially if we’re to believe the well edited trailer before us.

Right Away, Guy Ritchie’s style of film making came to mind as this trailer played – from Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998) to The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015) and beyond.

I’m just hoping that Wheatley’s film is as good as the style and great stories that inspired it. Bring on the thrills great camera work, story and all else. Please, thank you and no pressure.

What great choices Mr Copley makes in the roles he plays. So many pleasant surprises and many more to come, let’s hope.

Michael Smiley, Jack Reynor, Babou Ceesay and Sam Riley also star.

Free Fire Release Dates: 2017 (US); March 31st, 2017 (UK)…

LIVE BY NIGHT (2017): New Trailer from Ben Affleck, Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning…

Ben Affleck is director, producer and star of Live By Night, a new crime drama about the dealings of a group of people involved in organised crime during the United States prohibition era.

Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane; Zoe Saldana, Scott Eastwood, Elle Fanning and Chris Messina are just some of the talented cast.

Johnny Depp’s Public Enemies (2009) came to mind as I watched this trailer. Which will be the better movie, I wonder…

JACK REACHER – NEVER GO BACK (2016): New Trailer Starring Tom Cruise, Cobie Smulders…

Look closely at the above photo. What a perfectly civil and friendly exchange the people in the shot seem to be having, right? Now watch the trailer below.

In Jack Reacher – Never Go Back, Tom Cruise returns as the highly capable homicide investigator, Jack Reacher – except this time he’s the accused.

I’m still yet to watch the original movie, Jack Reacher (2012) – though clearly, it’s time I did. Even more so since I love badass move scenes like the one with the car window. The last time I got excited about an impressive and swift movie magic manoeuvre was thanks to Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer (2014).

I’ll be tuning in because of Tom Cruise and his badass action man ways. Still, it’s probably good to mention that Cobie Smulders, Robert Knepper and Aldis Hodge also star,

Jack Reacher – Never Go Back Release Dates: October 21st, 2016 (US & UK), November 3rd, 2016 (GER)…

JOHN Q (2002): The Things I Liked…

JOHN Q (2002), Denzel Washington
JOHN Q (2002), Denzel Washington

A memorable Denzel Washington movie, John Q is a film about the love a father has for his young son and the resultant lengths he will go to, in the struggle to keep his son alive when his health suddenly deteriorates.

Set against the backdrop of the United States’ less-than-adequate healthcare system, the unfortunate predicament our protagonist finds himself in is one many millions of Americans dread and can likely empathise with.

The light shed on the very relevant social issues through the excellent performances by Washington, Kimberly Elise, Robert Duval and James Woods’ are my favourite things about John Q. I was glad to learn so much as I enjoyed the dramatics.

One of the things that did stand out in the movie, but not for a good reason is the musical score. I found it more distracting than complimentary to the drama and action. Particularly in the first third/half of the film.

John Q is directed by Nick Cassavetes and though it’s not a perfect movie, I still think it’s worth seeing for Denzel’s performance and a little education about the American healthcare system.

Every time I finish watching a good Denzel movie, I remember that I really need to re-watch one of his very best, Training Day (2001). Get to it if you haven’t already.

THE INFILTRATOR (2016): New Trailer From Bryan Cranston, John Leguizamo…

The Infiltrator (2016), Diane Kruger, Brian Cranston
The Infiltrator (2016), Diane Kruger, Brian Cranston

In The Infiltrator, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is real-life character Robert Mazur. Mazur is an undercover US customs agent, and Pablo Escobar’s drug trafficking operation is where he must work unsuspected.

I imagine that fans of big hit TV show Breaking Bad will be very excited about this movie. If the pace and thrills are as fast and good as this trailer suggests, I’m hoping that we’ll all have a great time.

Directed by Brad Furman, Diane Kruger, Amy Ryan and John Leguizamo also star.

The Infiltrator Release Dates: July 15th, 2016 (US)…
