MEMORIES OF THE SWORD (2015): New Trailer Starring Byung-hun Lee, Go-eun Kim…

The new trailer for Korean movie, Memories Of The Sword looks interesting.

Mostly it’s the hints of dialogue, clips of great cinematography, and the believable intensity in the actor’s eyes that caught my attention.

The music, editing and the actors’ voices also help. Still, I pray my senses don’t deceive me. Especially because I did notice hints of less than perfect wire work.

Movie making sure is hard, isn’t it.

THE LONGEST RIDE (2014): The Good & Bad Things

The Longest Ride (2015), Britt Robertson, Scott Eastwood
The Longest Ride (2015), Britt Robertson, Scott Eastwood

The Longest Ride is a drama/romance directed by George Tillman Jr. and based on a book by Nicholas Sparks.

Starring Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson, the film follows two couples; one young and the other much older whose paths cross one night in North Carolina.

As I watched The Longest Ride, I found myself thinking, ‘Enough of this older couple’s story. More of the other, please!’ but luckily, the older couple’s story does get a little more interesting.

Tillman Jr’s  is quite long and there are some moments where the dialogue didn’t sound great but I do like what happened at the auction at the end. Overall, I definitely prefer Dear John (2010) or The Notebook (2004) to this film adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks book.

As for any reasons to watch, you’ll learn a few things about bull riding and you may even find yourself taking note of some of the country music in the musical score. The main reason I tuned in is a curiosity about Scott Eastwood (son of Clint). The good news is, he’s definitely not terrible.

JOY (2015): New Trailer For Jennifer Lawrence & Bradley Cooper Drama

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Joy (2015.

Find people you like working with and work with them whenever possible‘. These are words that probably came out of acclaimed Director David O. Russell’s mouth at some point, for here comes another movie starring his two favourite actors, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.

Add Robert De Niro and you’ve got the cast of Silver Linings Playbook (2012), O’Russell’s Oscar-winning 2012 movie.

O’Russell’s latest biography/drama, Joy is the story of a family across four generations, and the woman who rises to become founder and matriarch of a powerful family business dynasty.

Based on the trailer, it looks filled with trying times for the family but I’m looking forward to seeing Lawrence’s character make sweet, sweet lemonade out of it all.

FANTASTIC FOUR (2015): May The Movie Live Up To Its Name

Fantastic Four (2015), Miles Teller

How did I not feature the Fantastic Four trailer sooner? Slight super hero movie fatigue perhaps.

Whatever the answer, I’m doing it now because it is rather well done. My favourite moment being when Reed Richards/ Mr. Fantastic looks up and down to his right. Isn’t slow motion a beautiful thing?

With some of the most talented actors of young Hollywood, Fantastic Four is an interesting super hero movie about – you guessed it, saving humanity. This new reboot is directed by Josh Trank and stars Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell.

STEVE JOBS (2015): Time For The Michael Fassbender Interpretation

Steve Jobs (2015), Kate Winslet, Michael Fassbender
Steve Jobs (2015), Kate Winslet, Michael Fassbender

Two of my favourite UK actors, Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet star in the story of Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs.

Like many, I’m already very aware of the story of the celebrated visionary, but of course, I’ll watch the film if only to take in the artistry of the actors, the magic of dialogue king/screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin and director Danny Boyle.

Another highlight is Steve Jobs the appearance of one of my favourite funny men, Seth Rogen in another serious role, this time as the other half of the Apple founding team, Steve Wozniak.

Steve Jobs Release Dates: October 23rd (US), November 13th (UK)…

Happy Steve Jobs 🙂
