SWEET VIRGINIA (2017): New Trailer From Jon Bernthal, Imogen Poots, Christopher Abbott…

Sweet Virginia is the story of a former rodeo champ who befriends a man with violent tendencies.

Directed by Jamie M. Dagg; Jon Bernthal, Imogen Poots and Christopher Abbott star.

I’m in because of this trailer’s intriguingly dark quality. I’ve also encountered Bernthal’s face in quite a few trailer thumbnails recently and I just want to see something else great that he’s in so I can stop thinking of him as the character he plays in The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013) and We Are Your Friends (2015).

My senses also tell me that there’s a potentially great face-off coming between Bernthal and Abbott’s characters. You sense it too, right?

Sweet Virginia Release Dates: November 17th, 2017 (US)…

POPSTAR – NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING (2016): The Thing I Liked…

Popstar - Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Andy Samberg
Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Andy Samberg

Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping stars Andy Samberg, and it’s a comedy I did not hate. Nevertheless, I was definitely hoping to laugh at least twice as much as I actually did.

Unfortunately, instead of laughing, my reaction to many of the jokes was a slight smile. The pace of the movie certainly didn’t exactly help.

If I were forced to pick a favourite moment in the film, nothing really comes to mind except everything I saw in the trailer. The trailer was great, whereas the  movie is at best, just ok.

Watch it, especially if you’re a big Samberg and or The Lonely Island fan.

POPSTAR – NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING (2016): New Comedy Trailer From Andy Samberg, Imogen Poots…

Read my quick spoiler-free movie review of Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping (2016).

Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping is a brand new comedy coming this summer and it stars Andy Samberg as fictional popstar Conner4Real.

Trailer 1

Trailer 2

The story follows the superstar after very disappointing album sales, the perfect place for the comedy to start.

My hope is that this movie is better than 7 Days In Hell (2015), which for me, turned out to be much funnier in trailer form.

With cameos from music industry personalities and artists including Simon Cowell, Carrie Underwood and Usher, my fingers are tightly crossed.

Maybe Conner4Real can be the Derek Zoolander (2001) of the music industry. Though, perhaps sans the ‘mental challenges’ that plague the stereotypical male model. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter as long as the end result is funny.

Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping Release Dates: June 3rd, 2016 (US & CAN); August 26th, 2016 (UK) …

GREEN ROOM (2015): New Trailer Starring Patrick Stewart, Imogen Poots, Anton yelchin…

I like my sleep far too much to watch most horror movies, but something about the new teaser trailer for Green Room, the latest film starring Imogen Poots, Patrick Stewart and Anton Yelchin might just be too intriguing.

I’m thinking that I’ll be ok as long as Green Room is more of a thriller/slasher horror than anything else. On a brighter note, how wonderful is Patrick Stewart’s voice?

Green Room Release Date(s): April 15th, 2016 (US); 13th May, 2016 (UK); Jun 2nd, 2016 (GER)…

KNIGHT OF CUPS (2015): The Trailer That Keeps on Giving

Knight Of Cups (2015), Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett
Knight Of Cups (2015), Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett

If you’ve glanced upon a few of my posts, you may know that I adore the work of Cate Blanchett. But what I’m yet to properly express is my appreciation for the talents of Christian Bale. To talk about that I need another post.

Today however, I sat at my computer as usual, hopeful for some new trailer delights – when Knight of Cups (2015) happened.

First I saw director Terrence Malick’s name, and like a good and loyal canine, up my ears went. Then Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett’s faces appeared. (Yes and yes!) By this point I was sure that my excitement had peaked. But then…

Natalie Portman! I haven’t seen my dear ‘Lady Portman’ in something amazing since Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan (2010). So, right now, happiness is most definitely me.

The idea that I’ll be able to maintain any semblance of calm on the day I go see Knight of Cups is very, very wrong. Until then though, I have this…

It’s not particularly the best/most thrilling trailer I’ve ever seen, but the talent… Oh, the talent!
