THE DIPLOMAT SEASON 2 (2024): The Things I Liked…

The second season of The Diplomat, the new Netflix series I raved about most in 2023, recently landed.

I’ll begin by admitting that I prefer the first season. It featured more humour, and the finale episode cliffhanger was more memorable to me.

Season two has periods of undeniably good writing, great acting and some humour. However, overall, ‘okay’ is the word I’d use to describe how I feel about it.

I’m sure that part of the reason for my less enthusiastic reaction has something to do with a diplomat’s general day-to-day, as highly dramatised as it is, no longer being new and exciting to me. It could also be that my interest in what diplomats get up do has waned.

Overall, as okay as the six-episode second season is, I enjoyed the execution/story less than the first season, just not so much less that I wouldn’t give a third season a chance.

Watch season one if you’re curious but probably expect a little less for season two.

If you’ve already watched season two, at least the cliffhanger leaves something to look forward to.

Have you watched both seasons of The Diplomat? What do you think of season two?

TRESPASS AGAINST US (2016): New Trailer From Michael Fassbender, Brendan Gleeson…

Trespass Against Us (2016), Michael Fassbender
Trespass Against Us (2016), Michael Fassbender

Trespass Against Us is Michael Fassbender’s new Adam Smith-directed movie.

Also starring Brendan Gleeson, Fassbender plays Chad, a member of an outlaw family who’s trying to escape the criminal life.

I’m not a big fan of this trailer edit. I don’t like what it suggests about the quality of the movie. Nevertheless, I remain curious, especially about what it is about this that may have appealed to Fassbender, besides the chance to speak in his country’s accent, of course.

Trespass Against Us Release Dates: October 14th, 2016 (UK); November 24th, 2016 (US)…

The final Spectre trailer has landed and to be honest, I feared that it might show far more than I care to see before the movie. I’m delighted  to confirm that it doesn’t.

I’m beyond ready for October 16th (UK release date). Spectre will be available in the US from November 6th, 2015.

SPECTRE (2015): Welcome James. It’s Been A Long Time…

Sam Mendes, the Director of my favourite film, American Beauty (1999) said yes to making his second James Bond movie – and the first teaser trailer for Spectre (2015) has now arrived.

It looks like we’ll be getting more of the signature breathtaking cinematography, musical score, action sequences and the super dialogue typical of recent Bond films.

With some of Europe’s finest film making talent at the helm – Sam Mendes, Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci and of course, Daniel Craig, all we have left to do now is look forward to the final product and hope that the next trailer or two don’t reveal too much of the plot, please and thank you.

Film, an ideal marriage of the arts. Who could possibly disagree? Another way to say it is: ‘Film is the perfect amalgamation of all the arts.’

Which image is your favourite and which did I forget to include? I wonder.
