BOKEH (2017): New Trailer Starring Maika Monroe, Matt O’Leary…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Bokeh (2017).

Contemplate this: You’re on a romantic getaway to Iceland with your love, and whilst there, you wake up to find that everyone on earth has disappeared, except for the two of you. What next?

Written/directed by Geoffrey Orthwein, Andrew Sullivan, and starring Maika Monroe, Matt O’Leary and Arnar Jónsson, what Bokeh seems to be offering is a very intriguing sci-fi drama…

I’m drawn to this because somehow I think I’ll learn something that will help me survive, should such a predicament come to pass in my lifetime. I’m also just very curious and keen to see how different this will be compared to the seemingly similar Z For Zacharaiah (2015).

For everyone wondering, the meaning of ‘bokeh’ is ‘the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens’. It is not a town in Iceland, as my lousy geography and non-professional photographer status first led me to believe.

Bokeh Release Dates: March 24th, 2017 (US)…

TALLULAH (2016): Good Story, Well Acted…

Tallulah (2016), Ellen Page
Tallulah (2016), Ellen Page

I tuned into Tallulah because of the near enough justifiable madness I saw in the trailer; a person taking a stranger’s baby because said stranger is without a doubt an unfit mother.

Starring Ellen Page, Allison Janney, Tammy Blanchard  and written/ directed by Sian Heder, Tallulah has a thing or two to say about the sacrifice that is motherhood – especially via Blanchard’s unfit mother / dissatisfied Beverly Hills housewife character.

Well edited and acted, it’s worth watching for the story and the chance to have all the evidence so you can think about how close you’d have come to ‘taking the baby’, calling child protective services, doing nothing or something else. Ponder on that friends!

IN DUBIOUS BATTLE (2016): New Trailer From Nat Wolff, James Franco, Bryan Cranston, Selena Gomez…

In Dubious Battle (2016), Byan Cranston

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before on here, but I’m quite the emotional being. Precisely within 30 seconds of hitting play on the new trailer for In Dubious Battle, my eyeballs were near enough swimming in their sockets. All about an activist (Franco) fighting in the labor movement for farm workers in California during the 1930s, the cast for In Dubious Battle is pretty impressive. To name just a few we have Ed Harris, Robert Duvall, Vincent D’Onofrio, Nat Wolff and Selena Gomez. The movie is directed by and starring James Franco…

I’m quite sure that I saw another trailer for this movie a few months ago, but it did very little for me. It’s pretty damn amazing what a fresh edit can do, no?

Analeigh Tipton and Josh Hutcherson also star.

THE LAST LAUGH (2016): New Trailer For Documentary About Humour & The Holocaust – Featuring Sarah Silverman, Mel Brooks, Judy Gold…

The Last Laugh (2016), Sarah Silverman

Today we have another documentary about funny people. Featuring among others, Mel Brooks, Sarah Silverman, Klara Firestone and Rob Reiner, the topic director Ferne Pearlstein’s The Last Laugh is whether it’s ever acceptable to use humour when dealing with a tragedy of the scale of the holocaust…

I’m thinking it’s not necessarily what you do but when and how you do it. It’ll be interesting to see how the professionally funny break this down in more detail.

The Last Laugh Release Dates: March 3rd, 2017 (US)…

THE OLIVE TREE (2016): New Trailer Starring Anna Castillo, Javier Gutiérrez, Pep Ambròs…

The Olive Tree (2016)
The Olive Tree (2016)

Starring Anna Castillo, Javier Gutiérrez, Pep Ambròs and directed by Icíar Bollaín, The Olive Tree is all about a girl plus her friend and her uncle who go on a journey to recover a family olive tree that has been taken…

It would appear that now is the season for trees to be the stars of movies. There’s a chance my observation is premature, especially since the only other ‘tree movie’ that came immediately to mind is ‘A Monster Calls (2016).

I’m drawn to this film because it’s not quite that clear to me how one could become so attached to a tree.

My Cousin Rachel, the latest movie from Rachel Weisz, Sam Claflin, Holliday Grainger and Iain Glen is based on the best selling novel by Daphne Du Maurier.

It’s the story of an Englishman intent on revenge on his cousin Rachel but matters get complicated as he finds himself falling under her spell…

How could I not tune in with such a reliable cast and such promising cinematography. The beautiful song in this trailer is a version of Chris Isaac’s brilliant ‘Wicked Game.’ I believe this version is by Ursine Vulpine ft. Annaca. Good choice trailer maker!

THE ASSIGNMENT (2016): New Trailer From Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shalhoub…

the-assignment-2016-michelle-rodriguez

The Assignment is the latest Crime / Action / Thriller starring Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver and Tony Shalhoub. Having fallen into the hands of a rogue surgeon known as ‘The Doctor’, hitman Frank Kitchen is turned into a hitwoman, and naturally, revenge follows…

Is the concept of The Assignment interesting, ridiculous or both? I want it to be good but I can’t say that this trailer gives me plenty of confidence. Especially once the sound editor became trigger happy with those trailer sound effects from 53 seconds in.

The Assignment Release Dates: 2017 (US)…
