I think it’s time to get excited about some cool and super serious gun-slinging action. I can tell you agree.
Experimenter (2015), Winona Ryder, Peter Sarsgaard
Based on the work of real life social psychologist Stanley Milgram, Experimenter focuses on the 1961 radical behaviour experiments that Milgram carried out, in order to test the ordinary person’s willingness to obey authority.
With Peter Sarsgaard, John Leguizamo, Winona Ryder and Anton Yelchin as the leading cast, I’m excited to see where this intriguing true story goes.
Trailer 2 for Black Mass, one of the year’s most promising films is here.
Featuring the brilliant acting talents of Johnny Depp, Benedict Cumberbatch and Dakota Johnson, to name just a few, the story of James ‘ Whitey’ Bulger, south Boston’s most infamous violent criminal is looking like something no true film fan is going to want to miss. I can tell you agree.
After seeing this trailer, what’s suddenly very intriguing is the female characters. Particularly how much denial they were likely in. I guess we’ll all find out in 5/6 months.
I get the feeling that the soundtrack to this movie is going to be memorable.
Johny Depp, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson and Joel Edgerton are the stars of Black Mass, the film that has brought me my favourite trailer of the year… so far.
Watch it and understand.
I strongly hope that the finished product is as amazing as this brilliant trailer edit suggests.
Cate Blanchett is the star of what is now confirmed as my favourite Woody Allen film, Blue Jasmine. Her performance is fantastic; a brilliantly captivating portrayal of a desperate woman very much on the edge – if not hanging directly off of it.
As Jasmine continues to struggle, you’ll find yourself silently willing for her to make it through. Even though she’s not exactly the most likeable character. Nevertheless, her predicament isn’t especially uncommon and nobody wants to be in her situation.
It’s interesting how the screen is filled with what looks like the most glorious sunshine, when ‘bright and breezy’ is far from what’s going on in the lives of the characters in this very well-written and excellently paced film.
Blue Jasmine (2013) Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin
Watch Blue Jasmine because there is so much useful information about life and particularly, why it can be ill-advised to take a detour from your well thought out plans – and far too hastily.
Watch it to understand the reason Woody Allen is a film making hero for so many, and why Cate Blanchett is an absolute gift and arguably Australia’s equivalent of Meryl Streep.
Alec Baldwin, Bobby Cannavale and Sally Hawkins do a good job as the well-chosen supporting cast.
