Chris Pratt, Sam Richardson, Betty Gilpin and Yvonne Strahovski are the stars of The Lego Movie (2014) director, Chris McKay’s new action/adventure/sci-fi, The Tomorrow War.
The promising trailer has Pratt as Dan, a family man tasked with annihilating a future threat to humanity’s very existence.
I’m in for the Pratt brand of charm and action. Also, Gilpin appears to be in the wife/mother role for this one. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I’m hoping she gets to kick some alien behind. Especially since she was so great in The Hunt (2020).

I wasn’t even aware that it was Stan Lee narrating at first. I was moved when the music started at 0:36 seconds. Then the sight of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther happened, and I was reminded of the emotionally taxing mess that was 2020.
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, and particularly the first movie, along with its incredibly thrilling Comic-Con trailers are the reason that DC will always have a small piece of my heart. The largest part of my comic book movie appreciating heart, however, that’s allocated to Marvel Studios superhero movies because they get so many things too right to fail at being my favourite.
That’s not to say that I consider every movie/series Marvel makes perfect. Their trailers, action sequences, the music they use and how much sense the execution of their universe makes strategy-wise is the most impressive to me. And that’s just me writing as someone who’s never read a Marvel comic book, or any comic book for that matter. I simply love movies as ‘the perfect amalgamation of all the arts’ that movies are.
To think that the above three minutes and ten second celebration has even more Marvel stories and characters for me to discover gives me much to look forward to. Even if I don’t love everything released, I know I’ll find something memorable. How can I not with two of my favourites, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie as fresh additions to the Marvel family?

Of all the Avengers movies I’ve seen so far, the action sequences I remember most fondly take place in Captain America – The Winter Soldier(2014). Specifically, the Nick Fury vehicular chase sequence and the epic elevator scene that follows soon after. Just thinking about it recently had me interrupting my writing session to click on Disney+ to re-watch the scene. Only, I ended up watching the whole movie and liking it even more than the first time. I also properly noticed Robert Redford’s character; how well written it is. No wonder he said yes to the part.
There are only two months to go until my first visit to the movie theatre for a Marvel film. It will probably be my second cinema visit in 2021 because the first movie on my list is A Quiet Place Part 2, which comes out a month earlier. Which movie will mark your return to the theatre?

The chaos of it all is what I’m drawn to; the idea of a world functioning on zero sleep. I mean, many well-rested individuals make terrible decisions, which begs the question, precisely how scary can we expect things to get?
I’m in for the answer to the above while hoping that this movie will exceed all my expectations.

Hello, interesting movie premise!
I’m also in to see Pratt in an action movie role; the kind that seems to have strong Tom Cruise vibes. Perhaps it’s just the shot at 16 seconds into this trailer that has me making the Cruise connection.
Also, there’s Gilpin. I feel as though her character is going to be quite the badass. If you’ve seen The Hunt (2020), then you know that she’s great at that.

The main reason I wanted to watch Godzilla vs Kong is the monster fight. What proved most disappointing is that I found the fight sequences to be ‘just ok’ at best.
The special effects were impressive and I particularly appreciated the city lights in Hong Kong, as well as the film’s smart use of colour. Other highlights include Brian Tyree Henry who came across very convincingly as the investigator/conspiracy theory enthusiast.
As someone who enjoyed Kong Skull Island (2017), I was expecting an equally engaging story with Godzilla vs Kong. Especially where the fight sequences were concerned. It’s unfortunate that by the twenty-minute mark, I found myself wanting to fast forward to the monster face-off, rather than sit through the tired human stories I was supposed to buy into.
My desire to skip to the fun moments is partly because I wasn’t able to suspend my disbelief enough, not to notice how silly and cliché the story felt at times. I also missed Tom Hiddleston’s character from Kong Skull Island and found myself wishing he were in this movie. Because that way, he’d have helped ground things a little more.
If you’re curious about the special effects, watch Godzilla vs Kong. You may find yourself thinking that it feels sillier than expected, but you will most likely enjoy the CGI and the lights.
